So you are saying that you are using a DeWalt battery on a non DeWalt tool and not seeing performance gains? To me that seems like a poor way to test, but to each their own. Also, one of the main touted benefits (tbd since they are still newer) is 2x the battery cycles which could be a good value if it ends up being true.

In any case, they are definitely pricier than the alternative xr batteries which are still good performers and may fit people's budget better.

I mean that's just not true if you look at torque test's 5ah powerstack review. He basically says it is as good if not a little better in some cases than the 6ah in a smaller form factor(https://youtu.be/4Vag90QnEFc?si=Vx1CVPFs5Uwo7LZ_). The additional cycles should be a benefit, but as you said I have no idea since it's relatively newer and lithium ion batteries last a while. As for using as you see fit, absolutely you are entitled to that and I could see that being an issue. Most people out there just use the brands batteries in the brands tools and don't fuss with adapters, and I guess that's the camp I fall into. Good ideas though for limiting power to extend the lifespan of batteries, I admire your willingness to dive deep into that to get the most for your money.

At home depot just a few weeks ago, I got these along with a carry bag and choice of 2 bare tools (I chose sds and sawzaw) for $350. This doesn't seem like much of a deal unless you absolutely need no tools. Additionally I believe there was a single bare tool combo with these batteries and charger too. I want to say that was closer to $200
This deal includes 2 tools as well……just like you recently purchased

FYI I'm avoiding buying any more powerstack. According to some reviews they don't really perform any better. I spent some time playing with the 5Ah and DeWalt is trying some DRM shenanigans with it. You have to put a resistor between some pins to get any more than 2A out of it with a non-dewalt tool. I still haven't figured out what it takes to charge the thing on a non-dewalt charger.

Because someone would've called BS on OP and others saying they are authorized.

And here's one more comment from a random internet stranger… I've ordered from these guys a lot and they're the real deal

They are a hardware store out of CA, so if you go to Dewalt's Find a Retailer page, use Find Nearby, enter Anderson, CA (they have a physical store there) you'll see them listed. You should be able to choose any town that Fastener's Inc has a physical store (which is listed on their site) and do the same. I don't live in CA, I just know this because I did it to validate them when I made a Dewalt purchase with them a few months ago.

Got router and jigsaw. I was going to do the homedepot deal, but considering no tax and a better deal including batteries, pulled the trigger.

Those are the 2 that I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on... But I also need an angle grinder... Decisions, decisions...
