Hope all the people who bought in at $2500 can get that $500 refunded. I know Amazon doesn't do any price matching though, so it would have to be another store matching Amazon's new price.

Note that this is a 5 series, flagship series for TCL & Hisense is 8 series. This is pretty far down the ladder in terms of picture quality.

The Hisense U8K 100" at $3000 is still likely a better deal due to picture quality.

RTINGS didn't review the S5 in 2023, and you can't use 2022 S5 as reference (because in 2022 the 5 series was one step below the 6 series flagship). TCL redid their series/model numbers in 2023 to align with what the competition does (4/5/6/7/8 series).

You're probably talking about a TV that would score 6.5/10 versus one that would score 8.5/10.

Looks like Amazon may be matching BrandSmart [brandsmartusa.com] if someone w/ them locally prefers to purchase there, otherwise shipping is expensive.

I'm stuck between this or the Samsung s89c for $2000. I think the Samsung will be a bit more practical for my use case, but the immersion from a 98 inch screen....

I bought this at launch. No, it doesn't have full array local dimming. But it has just about every other bell and whistle imaginable.

This is an awesome deal at $500 less than what it was running through the holidays.

If you're contemplating anything larger than an 85 and not quite interested in a projector, this is hands down the way to go.
