SlickdealsForumsHot DealsCostco members: Samsung 28 cu. ft. 4-Door French Door SS Refrigerator with FlexZone Drawer. Free delivery/install/haul $999.99
Costco dropped their Samsung 28cu. ft. 4 door flex temp drawer (beverage drawer) refrigerator to $999.99. Comes with free delivery/basic install/haul away. 3 year Allstate coverage (making 5 years total) is only $89. Should keep them busy with the external ice dispenser design flaw on all of these.
model: RF28R7201SR
Stainless steel is the one dropped to $999.99. Black stainless is still at their 1299.97 clearance price.
Caution: for those who haven't had to shop for a refrigerator in a long while. French door models with ice dispensers on the door are notorious for mechanical problems. Ice compartments battle to maintain freezing temperatures in higher temperature refrigerated sections causing melted-ice puddles on the floor and failed ice dispensing units. This is true of all manufacturers. Many French door models offer internal water dispensers or "beverage centers" and an ice maker in the lower freezer section (where it makes sense). Cheers!
Looks like a solid deal but its sammy….
No to Samsung fridges

Great deal, but I am burned out from their design flaws and not following through on updates from their fridges to frame TV. All worthless after a year

Yep I would consider the extended coverage a must on a Sammy. Or anything with ice maker in the fridge section. It's only $89 on this one at Costco.
I have the previous model of this for 7 years. The ice maker got changed out a couple of times under warranty. Temps are still fine. Bought an GE opal2 nugget maker for $300 over the holidays to hold the 6 of us over for awhile. . .and they love it.
The beverage drawer has been highly regarded and used here as well.
So the alternative would be the 4 door (drawer) with beverage center and internal nugget ice. Those are $900 more even on best sale.
As I go up in price etc. i.e. like the one above or the 4 door flex models. And then consider adding on the Family Hub models. . .I gave up on getting a deal from Sammy with EPP. Price is great. $830 for a 7 year warranty from Sammy scares me away. And the fact that they don't offer a 5 year warranty when they know everything breaks in the 4th year puts me off as well.
I have the 2011 version of this, works like a champ but last year the fan blade behind the freezer froze and broke. Cannot order the blade itself, have to order the whole bracket assembly which was like $200. Once in awhile ice chunks get lodged in the dispenser and needs to be dislodged manually. Would buy this in a heartbeat if it were on sale at the time.
***CAUTION***: Ice maker is notoriously bad and there is even a class action lawsuit. It will break with in 6 months. Trust me I have the same ice maker on my fridge.
Samsung is absolute garbage. Have a Samsung refrigerator, and after only 3 years literally every rack inside is cracked or broken because it's all brittle plastic. I haven't had trouble with the water/ice dispenser luckily, but every single Samsung appliance I've had has had to have major replacements within a year or two. TV had to be completely replaced (and because of their warranty process I was stuck without a TV for 2-3 months), washer was recalled, dryer within 3 years I've had to replace the tensioner pulley once and heating element twice, and the refrigerator. Save yourself the time and money and just get a different brand.

thanks for the great info, just genuinely curious, if I don't use the ice dispenser at all, will that have a better shot at not failing?

This is good to know, I had no idea this was a thing! I have two LG French door fridges in each kitchen with ice dispensers on the doors that have worked perfect for 7 years but if one ever breaks I'll keep this in mind for the replacement. I've loved the convenience of having a dispenser on the door but if this is a known issue, I'll be sure to avoid in the future and look for fridges with internal dispensers.
