Just did a PC Part Picket test... Even if you bought the cheapest B650/X670/B760/Z790 WiFi mother board & case & 750+W PSU, you would still pay more than this combo. It got me to $220, including bottom-of-the-barrel brands.

So, in my book, this is a decent deal.
Add AMD 8700G and 6000 RAM and you get a decent gaming PC without buying a GPU
$179 for the cheapest AM5 processor (and not a bad one, either). Add RAM for $80 or so and you are set for $460.(+ tax... actually, this isn't exactly a steal). Also note that there is an Intel equivalent to this setup that is also on sale for $200.

for anything but gaming, since there's no GPU, which may well be the most expensive single part.

Wow, seriously thought this was an air purifier until I saw "ASUS" in the title!

Maybe add in the description WiFi for the motherboard. That's a nice touch usually more expensive boards have.

This is definitely a solid value for those considering a build where a new case and power supply were already on the parts list.

Any notes from the experts as to which GPUs are best supported by this 750W power supply? Though this would be CPU dependent, I would generally guess that the 4070 (non-Ti) or 3070 Ti are the general top end without accounting more specifically for the CPU.

I do see a reference from MSI here [msi.com].

Good luck!

Agreed that the bang for buck is pretty amazing when paired with a CPU supporting integrated graphics. You're going to get a capable machine for potentially well under $500 with LOADS of room for growth (and none of the compromises of proprietary systems from HP, Dell, etc.). This is especially true when you consider that many of the AMD CPU options would include a pack-in air cooler.

Good luck!

8700G is a $400 CPU... Hardly a budget buy.

I'm running a power-hungry ROG Strix 3080 with a 750 watt gold-rated Seasonic PSU with no issues. I also ran a RTX 4080 for a while with the same PSU, and it actually pulled less wattage at the same FPS.

Newer GPUs use less power than the previous generations have, which is something to keep in mind. A 4070 is going to pull 200 watt in gaming, 230 watts max with a power spike [techpowerup.com] (ymmv depending on brand). Meanwhile, a 3070 Ti will reach 250 watts [techpowerup.com].

But you're right, it does depend on what CPU you have and you overall total system wattage. That's why a tool like the EVGA Power-Meter is a nice way to check how much wattage you need: https://www.evga.com/power-meter/

Is this worth buying if you are not in a rush to build a system and are willing to hunt for good deals on the rest of the components needed?

The 8700G is definitely a premium buy... integrated graphics on par with a GTX 1650 [tomshardware.com]. That's a $100-150 GPU value... which is surely what AMD uses to justify the CPU's price.

A lower end CPU like the Ryzen 5 7600 is about half the price. The graphics performance is... much lower than the 8700G. But for eSports or other functions which don't demand a dedicated graphics card the Ryzen 5 7600 is a powerful, efficient option.

Good luck!

wifi is pretty standard on b650 board these day. I mean, it's like $5 for them add.
