Just did a PC Part Picket test... Even if you bought the cheapest B650/X670/B760/Z790 WiFi mother board & case & 750+W PSU, you would still pay more than this combo. It got me to $220, including bottom-of-the-barrel brands.

So, in my book, this is a decent deal.

Add AMD 8700G and 6000 RAM and you get a decent gaming PC without buying a GPU

$179 for the cheapest AM5 processor (and not a bad one, either). Add RAM for $80 or so and you are set for $460.(+ tax... actually, this isn't exactly a steal). Also note that there is an Intel equivalent to this setup that is also on sale for $200.

It's $330?

Is this worth buying if you are not in a rush to build a system and are willing to hunt for good deals on the rest of the components needed?
I have one system that would almost be a good candidate for using this ASUS platform as the basis for an upgrade (motherboard and case are both going out with the old CPU and RAM). However, the final price and lack of a need to upgrade (I have three other systems I did earlier CPU/motherboard/RAM swaps for $200 already through a prior MC deal) means I will sit out.

In other words, I wouldn't suggest this price is so slick that this combo should be stockpiled for the future. However, those in the market today for all three components (and already shopping AMD) could do worse.

Good luck!
Jon

Can you please link the intel equivalent? Couldn't find it on the website. Thanks.

At least $700 when it's all said and done.

Where are you finding 7600 for $180 other than from MC? MC had it sold out for a while already.

I'm guessing they were thinking of the super-hyped 7800X3D(?) for the $400 price point.

Good luck!

it's $329 but I know Microcenter gonna sell it for $300 or so when it's available.
It's basically a R7 7700 with GTX 1060 6GB performance all at 65W TDP

You can always buy a GPU for it later on too.

wifi is pretty standard on b650 board these day. I mean, it's like $5 for them add.
Usually see WiFi on mid range boards but on lower end boards not always

There is no way to add a GPU here? What would I need for RDR 2 to be playable (don't need highest res, just playable and decent)

The 8700G is definitely a premium buy... integrated graphics on par with a GTX 1650 [tomshardware.com]. That's a $100-150 GPU value... which is surely what AMD uses to justify the CPU's price.

A lower end CPU like the Ryzen 5 7600 is about half the price. The graphics performance is... much lower than the 8700G. But for eSports or other functions which don't demand a dedicated graphics card the Ryzen 5 7600 is a powerful, efficient option.

Good luck!

Nice to see Tom's Hardware seem to have finally shed their intel bias.

Looks big enough to easily put 3 fan gpu there. but the cable management piece by the psu may have to be removed for that. But for sure could fit any kind of 2 fans without hassle.

Wow looks like a solid CPU, I was planning on doing a sff workstation build and now looking into APUs, but I know the second I dabble in gaming I'll want to run ultra setting on an ultrawide

On this deal, white cases are usually a bit extra so this is pretty good, but the MOBO color scheme should match a white/blackout

Anyone know how loud this case is with PS? I'm looking for quiet case/setup. No gaming. Just office work and photoshop.
