I spent my Sunday afternoon watching YT reviews about GoPro 11/12, Insta360 stuff and DJI Action 4. Also asked around from coworkers who own these cameras. They are all casual users btw.
Decided to pass on GoPro due to mediocre feedback I heard. They all faced issues here and there, crashing and battery life etc. And then the lack of usable night shooting capability and magnetic mount. Liked the gimmicks and the performance of Insta360 Ace Pro but worried about its reliability (being a newer brand) and is more expensive. DJI Action 4 fits the bill due to recent drop of $100 and what's better is this DJI Refurb unit with another $60 off. You would enjoy the same warranty from DJI and if you like peace of mind you can spend $36 on a 2-year DJI care for accidental breakdowns, using the $60 saved from buying refurbished. I ordered it. Price is 40% off of MSRP, unbeatable for a barely 6-month old product from DJI

Insta360 has been around for 10 years (2014), they aren't brand new - they've done like 3 versions of the Go, 3 of the X2, etc.
And calling features "gimmicks"
And saying the Leica lens is just a badge for people to feel good?

Same here!
Depending on your use case, you may not need it as much. Especially if you have breaks between recording sessions (surface time between dives or time on chair lift when skiing). Just hooking the camera to a PD powerbank gets you back to 80% in 15-20 min. And don't need to get into the battery compartment for that either.
Personally, for my use cases, I just need 2 fully charged batteries and my powerbank.
