Not particularly. Costco doesn't normally have the best prices for laptops. Especially their Lenovo Legion deals are usually lackluster. Good price for Costco, but not a great slick deal in general.

For example, this is a far superior machine in general, and it is also not getting much traction.

Or here is a closer example, about the same price but with a 4070
https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/t/17247442

If your main use case is gaming, both machines above outperform the one from this deal.

Thank you for your explanation. Since I am not much of a gamer I was more focused on the CPU of the Costco model since it appears to be better than the Ryzen 7 7745HX from the model you mentioned. Just wondering if the Intel i9 with the 4060 would be a better machine for work and not a lot of gaming involved. Besides, I have read that the difference between the 4060 and the 4070 is not that great due to the RAM of the two cards being the same.

The vRAM situation is overblown due to a few poorly optimized games. The 4070 will outperform that 4060 by 10%-20% in most every game. You are correct that the i9 will outperform the Ryzen in most situations, but both are very fast processors. If your work consists of HEAVY CPU load you may value the i9, but most users would not perceive much difference.

This is the top of the line 13900hx CPU.

Have we seen any 32 thread CPUs (13900hx or 7945hx) below $1300 ?

Legion pro usually comes with a much better screen. Only Costco model has this 300nits panel. Really don's know why MSI does this for Costco model only.

Yes, it appears that the 300 nits screen is the usual screen for the regular Legion 5.

Unfortunately as of 2023 models the legion 5 pro no longer comes with the 500 nit screen as a default as it used to. It is an "upgrade" option now.

This is a Lenovo thing (legion is Lenovo, not MSI) nothing to do with Costco.

You can get the better model with an 4070 and the 500 nits screen for $1469 at eBay.

With all due respect, Acer Nitro is kinda meh. It sacrifices everything just to look good on spec sheet. Build quality, sound, speakers, keyboard are all compromised in some way. The weird colors on the keyboard just looks gimmicky. Overall just give off the vibe of a cheap machine.

Its like American muscle cars. All horse power, no handling. I'd rather drive a 200hp miata then waking up neighbors at 3am with a V8.

I do agree though, Costco isn't the best place for laptop if you are looking for the best deal. The 4070 is a much better deal.

For 2023 models, BH, microcenter, and most other retailers were selling 500nits screen 4060/4070 legion pro models all year. Actually you could only find this 300 nits screen legion pro model at Costco. Of course this is partly Lenovo's decision to choose such a configuration for Costco, but it's also Costco's decision to sell such a configuration.

I mean absolutely no offense, but a quick search right here on SD will tell you you are wrong. I think maybe what you guys are getting confused about is that Costco only seems to carry this version most of the time and not the 500 nit screen version, but Costco is not the only retailer to sell it, it is in no way a Costco exclusive.

This was purely Lenovo cash grabbing making what was once the default setup into a more costly option.

Most 2023 legion pro models deals posted at SD in the past year (other than the Costco deal) are 500nits screens, e.g., BH, microcenter, other retailer deals.

Dude, doubling down? You are wrong... Now it is "most" instead of all to save some face or something? LENOVO is the one that sells it in multiple screen configs, unlike in past years where the nice screen was the default. Now it is an upcharge. There is no special model for Costco with the crappier screen, that is just the default now.

And as a final side note Costco also sells a version with the 240hz 500 nit screen:

I totally agree, however from a gaming only use case, I am taking that Nitro 100% of the time as it will outperform the legion from this thread on 100% of games, and have a much better screen doing it.
