Bough the 2000A one for $36 6months ago. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I havent needed it for jump starting my car but its worked for phone charging and in theory could even charge via the cigarette port an electric cooler (not tested).

Feel its a great price personally.

Might be a decent price for a portable battery pack, but don't expect the thing to put out 1500 amps on those baby cables without going up in smoke! Project farm on youtube did a good review/comparison of various battery packs. I'd check out his vids first before pushing any buy buttons on this.

I will put what I put in just about all these threads. These are great items to have, I been using them for a long long time now, and it has saved me and others in the past.

That being said, I matured from battery packs like this, to more expensive super capacitor packs. The super cap packs, extremely reliable and pretty much last a lifetime, work in any temperature for the most part, and require ZERO maintenance or charging so they are always ready to go. Yes it will cost you 3X this cost, but the way I justified it, most of the normal battery packs you will be lucky to get more than two years out of them if you keep it in your trunk and live in an area where temperature extremes happen like in Chicago. So when you add the cost of replacing the pack every few years you quickly come up ahead.

So yes, good price, great to always have for emergencies, but there are better more reliable options.

This is what I have and use. Have had it for 4 years now and have used it probably 8-10 times since getting it. Just used it twice in the last two weeks alone cause of the sub zero freeze in Chicago killing batteries. They were one of the first to come out with these that were affordable for most people.

There are many other options but none that I will recommend as I have not done research on recently. I will post some other options that might or might not work well, so do your own research on them.

Cool.... I'm well familiar with super caps but didn't know they were available in a pack like this. Definitely something to consider!

I rather pay more for something that works every time, compared to something that has a high chance of failure while in storage in a trunk in a state with major temp extremes, or user error cause you leave it in the Trunk and don't charge it.

I would bet very few people who own battery packs, keep them on a regular charging schedule, so when time comes to use it, its dead or nearly dead and useless.

I completely agree! Some back up is still better than none at all, so this listing is better than nothing, but in terms of brute force reliable power on tap, the super caps will be the way to go for sure. If this thing in the listing does anywhere near it's rated capacity, then it's still probably a good deal just as a portable battery pack with 'maybe' jump start capabilities. But like you said, a pack is only going to work if it's charged. I own a Gooloo GT4000S and a Lokithor J401, both did well according to Project Farm on YouTube and I got them both on sale. Maybe I'm in it for $150 for the pair grand total. The Gooloo is meh in performance, but a definite maybe. The Lokithor I'd buy again without hesitation, that thing has a real pair of balls! But a bank of super caps should trump these battery packs all day no question. And like you said, they'll pretty much last forever with less temperature concerns compared to any battery pack.

I'd say the sweet spot is something like this with batteries and a second with super caps if you happen to have 2 cars in the family.

The battery features and being able to run 12v stuff without grid access is really nice. I've taken my pellet grill places and cooked a ton of pork belly burnt ends for events with success, charged phones/tablets, run lights, etc. with a battery. Those kinds of use cases do come up more often than needing a jumpstart in my world and Super Caps can't do that.

The Caps are better as a pure jumpstarter. Thats one you want to keep in the car. So long as 1 person has it with them, you can get an emergency jump in a reasonable amount of time if the two cars aren't too far apart. Keep the battery one inside during the cold to preserve its life. It'll probably be due for a charge before and after the cold season.

Super caps like the one I listed are unlimited use, they work by quickly charging off the weak battery when you hook it up and usually in 3 minutes its ready to jump the system. If the battery is completely dead than you can take the pack and charge it from another cars battery or use the cigarette lighter which takes about a 1-2 mins to get to 100%. After the pack gets to 100% for a V6 SUV on the first jump it went from 100% to 92% so you could possibly get around 10 jumps of it, if you had to do them right after another. Super caps are not made to store energy for a long time, so there is no point of pre charging it unless you know you will be using it within a few hours.

The battery ones should be kept inside during the cold and the heat. That makes them nearly useless IMO.

My own experience with supercap units - they might work in some situations but not others. I have one I bought off Amazon that didn't work when I needed it. My battery was flat, only a couple of volts in it, so I charged the supercap unit to 100% in a friend's car. When I tried to jump my car (a Toyota Matrix, small 4cy engine), it barely turned over before the cap unit was discharged completely. I'd guess it was two or three seconds of turning over, then stopped. The car did not start with the supercap unit, it was a pleasant warm day here in SoCal, not in the winter or cold weather at all.

Be sure to read all the negative as well as positive reviews on these supercap units. They aren't all they're cracked up to be. In my case, it was useless. Fortunately, I had a "standard" Lithium Jump Starter with me, and I hooked it up and the car started immediately. Due to that experience, I personally wouldn't recommend on as your primary solution, but maybe as a backup that "might" work in some instances. YMMV, but I thought I'd share my own experience with everyone. Your experience my differ from mine.
