I had a few of these delonghi espresso makers early on. The light weight ones like this should def be the clearance price for how plasticky they feel. The ec270 I had weighed a good bit more and felt better, but all in all they're probably the same internally...

The pros were it's easy to clean the brew group with a toothbrush and wet rag while it's still hot... It makes espresso... And it's pretty fun to use for a newb like myself. They even sell third party bottomless portafilters out there which you could probably do some fun stuff with paired with a very good grinder. Forgot to mention also there is a steam wand!

Downsides are: no three way solenoid valve, so after brewing, you have to let the portafilter stay there for a couple of minutes to avoid coffee spewing about. You also have to be sure you don't let the machine get cruddy -- rinse and wipe the brew group before storing, use good water or gently descale as needed (I think this has an aluminum boiler, though, so buy Al safe cleaning solution)...

Overall, for this price--solid buy.

If we are looking at the same ones, they seem to me that they didn't do maintenance/cleaning and possibly were using hard water that led to scaling that clogged somewhere.

They are all exactly the same internally. The boiler is stamped stainless steel.

Thanks for the heads up. Apparently I was looking at the pickup price. When I switched to delivery, it showed the full price. I fixed the post. Did your local club have it for the clearance price too?
My pickup price is $47.91

I assumed that was the frother part of it.
It says frother but you do not add milk to the machine you use a cup or whatever and blow steam into the milk.

This is a link on how to get the best out of this machine (similar model). I think it's excellent for a beginner who doesn't mind the manual process.

This one any better than the $50 Gourmia machine deal over BF? I have that and it makes ok espresso, not bad. I don't use the frother/steam milk compartment so it's wasted space.

Waiting to eventually get a good one that's $700 or more one day

The BF one has cappuccino and latte function built in. This one require you to do it manually.
