Sound quality: These are slightly better than Anker. Better Base, but I use the EQ to adjust them anyways so it not that big of a win, IMVHO. B&O EX wins for sound quality for sure.
ANC: This is where this is a huge win. These are prob the best ANC for any buds (and even compete w/ over the ear Bose QC45 that I have). I estimate that they are about 30% better for ANC than Anker. However, that is really evident in direct back to back comparison. If you continuous wear them for a long them (beyond 15min), I think my ears just naturally get use to the ANC isolation level that I cannot tell that much of a difference if I wear these or the Anker. But if I was to switch them, it is obvious of the difference. I tested the Anker, LG Tone FP9, wife's QC35 (did not bring the over ear Bose QC45), and these (switching them out after some time) on a recent flight to Europe over the holiday. And seriously, after 30min of wearing them, I could not notice much of a difference as my ears would have adapted to the level. The initial difference is noticeable, but you just get used to the isolation level as norm after sometime. So if your interest is the best ANC, then get this (or maybe the Ultra, which I have to tried).
The one issue that I have (for air travel) is the size and how much it sticks out. I was unable to turn my hear w/ these as it rubs against the headrest and pushing into my ears. Anker and LG was somewhat better for sleeping. But QC35 over the ear was best for sleep on the plane.
Battery life was fine for me as the Flight was only 6 hours so it was never an issue. I cannot imagine wearing these for >6 hours anyways if I need to sleep on the plane and turn my head.

I have irregular ear holes, so buds constantly slip out. I need buds with hooks to latch into my ear.

The prominent hooks were phased out on the version before this. These have less substantial fins, but they work for me. Earbuds without fins pop out for me often, and these don't unless I physically knock them out myself by mistake.

That said, return was painless.
I went with the Sony XM5 instead. Better fit, smaller case, wireless charging, and multipoint. The sound was just as good, though the NC was better on the Bose.
when it works? it works fine
when it doesn't work, you'll never get it to connect until the next time you randomly try and pray to see if it connects or not
However, it looks like the bugs have been fixed with the current firmware and app software. From a sound perspective though, they always sounded great when working correctly and the noise cancelling is impressive. I tried the Sony XM4 buds and they were just too uncomfortable for my ears.
I also have the first gen Bose QC Buds too. I always thought those sounded good and the QC Buds II sound slightly better in my opinion. I like the fit of the QC II's but overall, outside of it being much less bulky, it's not much of an improvement for my ears at least. Great product nonetheless if it works correctly.
