Some random shortseller reported on the way DTO was selling brand new Ridgid tools as factory blemished to get around the exclusivity deal with Home Depot.
They ratted out TTI/DTO to try and make the Techtronic stock drop so they could make a bunch of money on shorts. I don't follow the stock, but I don't think the DTO/Ridgid issue had any effect since TTI makes most of their profit from Milwaukee and Ryobi.
So they ruined it for all of us for nothing. Lame.
A stock shorting firm, Jehoshaphat Research, has taken a short position against TTI tools and DTO while simultaneously trying to expose them for selling "blemished" Ridgid Home Depot items as actually new items. I hope DTO keeps making money and the short fails. As John Maynard Keynes said, "Markets can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent."
Decent deals, but for reference, I picked up the TVM01 Ryobi 12V rotary tool kit (factory blemished) for $25 + $15 shipping + tax around Christmas. It's now $42 + tax with free shipping.

Boy has the ridgid selection on DTO really dwindled in the past year or two.

Expose them? Hasn't this been public knowledge for quite some time?
Ugh, not that short seller rumor again. If any of that was true, Ryobi would've been affected as well and who really thinks that Home Depot was dumb enough to not realize that DTO was selling "blems" before that Jeshophat guy came along? Coupled with the fact that they do still sell Ridgid blems and that short seller rumor just needs to die.

This. Yes, some doofus wrote up articles like they uncovered this information. Breaking news!Meanwhile the general market and the execs at Home Depot were always well aware of what was happening and no one cared. Generally the brands (HD, DTO) are targeting different users and proliferation of these tools into the market helps both sides sell more.
