Hmm wouldn't KEF Q350 be better option at $500 when on sale? $800 for these seems high.
This is hardly any kind of blowout/close out sale. These prices are just back to the pre-pandemic/pre-inflation prices. Nothing to write home about.
Which is fine by me because it means my mint condition Ultra bookshelves in gloss white still have good value.
I want these speakers. $800+ tax a pair is just an inch from what I'm willing to spend though. At $800 i have to open the door to looking at a billion more speakers at that price or more. I just bought the prime elevation and waiting for them in the mail.

Wondering if I should get the Ultra towers and center before they're gone... I've got Polk Audio Rti12 & Csi5 for the front. Not too worried about timber matching for the surrounds, but FOMO kicking in a bit.
I had the RTi/CSi/FXi series for many years and sold them for some Mirage speakers. I've had all types of AVRs and realized it was the speakers that were lacking. I never bought into the saying "it was like a blanket was lifted off the speakers" until I bought the Mirage units, including dual subs. I no longer look for upgrades. I also sold my SVS PB12/Plus 2.

Which mirages? I had the M7-is towers. Wish I still had them!

Can't say I've hear a pair of Polk speakers in a very long time let alone that set.
That being said, before my Ultra center + towers, I had a matching 5.0 set of Jamo C109 towers, C10 center, and C10 surrounds. While they were perfect for music, I was always messing around with my Denon X1400 and then X3500 settings to try and improve clarity for home theater duty. Plugging in the Ultra front stage was an immediate and huge improvement for me on both the high and low end of the spectrum. Whether it would be worth the cost is up to you, but SVS has no questions asked 45 day returns for a reason if it isn't a big enough difference to you!
The tweeters on these things are like fingernails across a chalkboard. I don't understand how anyone can stand them for more than 30 seconds (unless their hearing is impaired?). It's because they use a metal grille. I think their engineers should get their hearing checked.
All the Ultra series lineup is getting closed out because of new, Ultra Evolution series coming soon.
I bought 5 Ultra speakers, including an Ultra Center and 2 Ultra surrounds during Labor Day close out sale.
Also, buy 5 speaker and get an additional 5% off total price. Saved a bunch of $
Buying 5 pieces (LCR and dual surrounds) is only $175 off of $3500.
Sure it's a savings (technically) but calling it " a bunch of money" saved is laughable.
Not to mention these prices are basically before their unwarranted price increase.

What amplifier/AVR do you have? Pioneer and Yamaha can be sibilant with metallic domes and horns.
Price per speaker sorry man but these "deals" ain't deals unless youre getting at least 50% off. Svs solid company but often overpriced in my opinion. I've had several of their subs and they're great but I never paid full price it's ridiculous.
I have a nearly full 7.2.4 SVS setup in my home theater. 2x Ultra bookshelf (L & R), 1 Ultra center, 4x prime bookshelf (surrounds), 2x PB-2000 Pro Subs. I went with 4x Martin Logan IC6HT for the ceiling atmos speakers, as they are angled. The ultra bookshelf speakers are much larger than I had anticipated, so check specs if you have any size concerns.
If you're buying separate subs, I'd recommend buying the Ultra bookshelf speakers over the ultra towers. The Ultra bookshelf are overkill for side and rear surrounds, the primes sound fine as surrounds. Save the money and use it on more important equipment.
I use an Onkyo RZ50 receiver. Tuned with DIRAC and a UMIK microphone.
Probably the best sound I've heard outside of an Atmos theater. It really is an incredible set.

Running very old PSB images in the front and centers in a 7.1.2 right now
