I use these a lot and notice they get weaker as it gets closer to expiration.

These were always my go-to for cold football games, or walking in the city when it's really cold, until I tried out one of the rechargeable ones. They get hot so quickly and don't require exposure to air like these do. I'll still use these for places that would be uncomfortable to have a rechargeable one, like in a boot or on my back, but besides that I'm always going for my battery powered ones. Bonus is that they can also be used like a power bank to charge your phone

Stated shelf life is around 4 years, however I've purchased expired cases of these that were 5+ years *past* their expiration date and they still worked fine.
As long as they were oxygen purged and sealed well at the factory they should be good to go for a while.

Agreed. I personally only use the battery powered ones now. They heat up fast, you can adjust the heating level, and they're reusable. If on a lower setting, they can last 8-12 hours, which works well for me. They've gotten pretty cheap now too.

These Hot Hands ones are great to keep in your vehicle in case of emergency. No need to worry about charging them.

Would also love to see which ones people are recommending!

I can't tell if I'm just bad at searching on Amazon or something but I just spent the last 30 mins looking through multiple top listings of rechargeable hand warmers and found that 90%+ of them seem fairly "fake" - all Ds and Fs on fake spot.

My search consisted of the following:
- One brand Ocoopa which has a ton of listings, but all listings fail FS checks
- a ton of similarly looking (probably drop shipped) ones that are all limited deals (wow! how convenient)
- and then some even touting AI technology?? 😂

Just looking at the top results, I can tell a lot of the listings are new/have fake reviews.

My friend has a set like that he got as a gift from his job. Loves them! If I see them as a deal I'd definitely buy a set.

$7.99 locally so $5/w free ship is a decent deal. As others have said- great for having in the car for emergencies. These are better in extreme cold than electronic rechargeable since cold kills batteries. Non-battery rechargeables can be bulky & tedious to reset after every use. Note about the Costco clearance comment- YMMV & those are a different brand & smaller, still good though.
