About 10:30 am CST. Rep gave me a 10% discount and also used referral code which sweetened the deal.

How does this compare to the QN85C I purchased last week? Swap em?!🧐😳😃
One is an OLED and the other LED. They both have pros and cons.
They are both great TVs. Here is a side by side comparison from one of the sources I trust most. There is also a mastering monitor playing the same content in some scenes.
QD-OLED vs Mini LED [youtube.com]

Spending some time watching an OLED and LED side by side at retailer would probably help establishing your preferences. The demo scenes are tailor made to show case the strengths while hiding the weaknesses in plain sight. So see if you can see some real content side by side.

It shows discounted price but once I add the TV to shopping cart the price increases substantially. Anyone has similar issue?

Visual question for the folks here, getting input. We have a large family room where the only place I can place a TV is above the fireplace. The room is large enough that the height doesn't really affect us (don't have to strain to look up since the distance to the main couch is pretty far). However, my current 75" appears quite small for the same reason. But the fireplace wall is not wide enough to accommodate this TV based on the dimensions. There will be above 0.75" overhang on the sides of the wall when mounted. Is this something that should be forbidden and I should just live with my 75" or should I pull the trigger and upgrade to this size?
Just live with the 75. The 83 will look ridiculous.

Damn good deal for an 83". It shares the name with the S90C, but it's using an LG WOLED panel.
Is WOLED worse than QD-OLED in other models? How does it compare to the on-going C3 panels? LG has Dolby Vision which is nice if the source. Can't make a decision please help!

Most reviews on YouTube and elsewhere rates QD-OLED better than WOLED. There are no reviews or measurements for the 83''. But I expect the image quality to be really close to a C3 83''. G3 > C3 mostly due to MLA. But not sure if the same holds for 83''.

There are no 83'' OLED panels outside what LG manufactures. So C3, G3 and S90C all use the same panel for 83''.

So at least for panel quality you are getting what every other 83'' OLED buyer is getting, And this is an amazing deal based on the pricing we have seen so far.

Smilie Listen I always say go bigger but aesthetically speaking you should stay within the boundaries of the fireplace. Now if you don't care about such things, then slap it up thereSmilie

Yep go big, when possible. Several years back I did a DIY of 150 inches (2.35:1) projection screen and literally built my basement media room around the screen !! Was totally worth it. Granted back in the day I had a 1080p projector. But the movie watching immersive experience was crazy good and the big screen size. Since I got spoiled with the big screen size, I am holding on to my 83" order for
my living room even though 77" is a better panel.

With the usual February/March deals coming up, do you guys think that there will be another 83/85" OLED this season with these ratings at this price point?

I don't think you're going to see an 83" <$2500 outside of crazy open box deals at Best Buy so I'd go for this if your space can accommodate it, and if you have the budget for it. 83" LG and Sony OLEDs are consistently >$3,000. This is the same panel that's used in the 83" C3, G3, and A80L. LG Display manufacturers the panel so it's similar to the models I listed previously.

When it comes to upscaling Samsung is behind LG who's behind Sony. If you're constantly feeding this TV 1080p and higher quality content, it'll look fantastic. Dolby Vision is great, but not having it wouldn't stop me from buying a TV. For comparison I have the LG C1, S95B, and S95C. I use 2nd Gen/3rd Gen Apple TV 4K devices for my content so I'm impressed with its internal upscaling. You'll want an external streamer because Tizen OS is horrible.
