This is the lowest price I've seen for a cpu+motherboard+ram combo on the am5 platform, and at ~$309 this is an extremely good value. I'm fairly certain it's a price mistake. This bundle is best for those who want build a lower-midrange system with a good upgrade path. This cpu has good gaming performance, and is overkill for basic office productivity, web-surfing, and content consumption, but since it only has 6 cores it is not well suited for cpu intensive productivity applications. That being said, you really shouldn't be looking at a bundle in this price range if your use cases involve workloads more cpu heavy than gaming (such as photo/video editing, code compiling, cpu based 3d rendering, etc.).

The 7600x is a six core zen4 cpu that is towards the bottom of amd's current gen cpu lineup. It is a single chiplet design, and is clocked marginally slower than higher end zen 4 parts. It doesn't use much power (especially when compared to current gen intel cpus), is relatively easy to cool even under full load, and is overall fairly efficient. In terms of gaming performance, the 7600x is very slightly slower than the 12900k and the 7700x (but faster than the 12700k). Realistically speaking, if you're purchasing a bundle in this price range, you're not going to have an $800+ gpu where this cpu's gaming performance could even start to be a meaningful bottleneck (outside of a few specific games). Having only six (full size) cores means that this cpu is not terribly future-proof, but once again this won't be an issue for the vast majority of games. If you're building a computer intended for only basic office productivity, web-surfing, content consumption, and other such non-intensive tasks the 7600x will be more than sufficient.

The msi pro b650-s motherboard seems to be a slightly cut down version of the msi pro b650-p motherboard (which was available in microcenter's 7700x and 7800x3d bundles). It's overall a lower-midrange full size atx b650 board with some of the standard compromises (no pcie gen5 support, only two m.2 slots, a cheap realtek audio chip, less heatsink coverage, etc.) but should be entirely sufficient for the average user. Pcie gen5 support won't matter for most users for a few years at least. There have been complaints about slow boot times on msi b650 boards, supposedly newer bios updates have mostly mitigated those issues, and memory context restore can be enabled without issue to drastically reduce boot times. A major advantage of building on the am5 platform is longevity, you'll be able to at minimum upgrade to a zen5 (and most likely zen6 as well) cpu while using the same motherboard and ram. The motherboard specs page can be found here: https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/P...cification

The ram in this bundle is the standard cheap 32gb ddr5 6000 cl36 g.skill flare ram that most bundles (including microcenter's) contain. This ram uses samsung memory chips, which are all around worse than the hynix memory chips used in higher end memory, but are better than the micron chips used in very low end ddr5. Ram with samsung memory chips used to have major compatibility issues with the am5 platform, but bios updates have pretty much solved those issues by this point. The biggest current downside to using ram with samsung memory chips is the vastly inferior overclocking/manual tuning potential compared to hynix memory. If you'd just be sticking with base expo settings, the performance difference compared to using ddr5 6000 cl30 ram would be extremely small. That being said, if you're willing to manually set timings, properly tuned hyinx ram would have a much larger performance delta compared to what you could achieve manually tuning the ram in this bundle.

Overall, if you're looking to build a system on a tight budget, this is a very good deal.
Nice price for the combo.

Not a consideration for those truly shopping this deal, but for those accustomed to AMD's generous inclusion of air coolers with plenty of models the listing could benefit from noting that this CPU model does not include a cooling solution.

Good luck!
Jon

I just checked, it still shows as $308.94 in cart for me. If you added the items individually, did you make sure both the cpu and motherboard were "sold and shipped by newegg"? If you added one of the components that's sold by a different vendor combo up savings won't apply. I'd recommend removing all items from your cart and trying with the newegg amd combo builder, as that should guarantee the items get added to cart properly.

Worth buying the processor and ram only for $230 to combine with the $200 ASUS case + motherboard + 750W MSU at microcenter? Also, would that combo potentially handle 7800xt/7900xt?

Thanks. I removed and started over, cleared cache (unsure if that makes a difference), logged out, added items, unchecked and checked the free gift box (RAM), and it came to $308 🙌

I think the 7600X with free RAM should be a standalone Front Page deal.

It's not a bad match for the RX 7800 XT, although if this is a purely gaming build, a lot of people will say pay for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

The RX 7900 XT feels a bit overkill, and is cutting it a bit close on a 750W PSU. Presumably if you can afford a 7900 XT, you have more room in the overall budget.

This deal is a solid value, although people are starting to speculate that Zen 5/Ryzen 9000 will arrive before July.

I bought the 5600x3d kit for $300. I should have waited for this and be on a new platform. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j...qyo&t=509s

absolutely and there's actually an upgrade path way down the line with that'll actually be worth it. when you combine all these prices you can consider the cpu only costing like $150, then when the new is out for a while and at a good price, a few years from now, you'll still be able to sell the 7600x for close to what you paid and buy the 8800x3d without much of any loss. Such the move to make.
Also it trades shots with the 5800x3d, which combo costs $350, so your getting a great psu and case for $80 on next the best deal (and you get to upgrade).

wish I had an excuse but, I don't

Don't think you can put together a 7800X3D combo for this cheap. 5800X3D on the other hand...

Was thinking the same thing, but the motherboard only has 4 SATA ports.
