So was on the market for a 15inch MBA and this deal is pretty good. I did NOT want the midnight color due to the multiple reports of easy scratching. However, I decided to pull the trigger anyway. Many people on reddit report that the issue is overblown and people who actually own midnight color laptops for a year or more say that they don't scratch that badly. I am usually gentle with my devices (but no babying) and if I have to carry the laptop around, I'll use a sleeve. YMMV of course.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I picked up one while shopping around for a couple weeks during the holiday period and really didn't have any issues. It's a beautiful color and looks different in different lighting. I DID have to bring a microfiber brush around with me as it would look smudgy after a day of use.

I've had a midnight 15 inch Air for the last six months and the fears online are definitely overblown. There are no scratches or paint chipping around the MagSafe charging port or the USB C ports on my machine after daily use since I've owned it. The laptop actually slid off my bed once and into the metal leg of my desk and came out of it without any visible damage. I've used it at home, outside, at work, and on trips without issue. Like you said, YMMV, but for me it's held up well.

The dark finish that turns from black to a rich dark blue depending on the light is gorgeous so I'm glad it's held up so well for me.

Great deal as I saw this in store yesterday. You can also check and see if you want an Open box - excellent condition item for $110 less.

I am just waiting patiently for M3 Pro $1600 open box deal to come back again because of the dual monitor support and my video editing needs.

MBP is better in almost every way. MBA 15inch has a larger screen (I own both, it is noticeable) and is thinner. It depends on your use, but unless you really like the form factor or need the screen, get the pro.

My personal opinion but I don't feel any purpose of mba 15" unless its the bare minimum 8g ram model. All the upgrades are just way too expensive to justify and could pick up mbp 14" base or 16" refub for the price of 16g 512(which is included for any mbp). I do daily drive a mba 15" since release for just daily use but I do all my other actual work on other windows laptop & remotely on server.
