Don't buy, do yourself a favor and go one size up. Unsure why, but this one is underwhelming. It would get stuck when I cut a 1x1 stick, or anything thick as 1 in. I think due to compact and older cheap tech. Maybe if you use this for dry wall cutting, ones that already on the wall? That would be lighter. I keep this in my truck to break down pellet. I remove the battery each time, and stash that away..

I use this cutting the 11/16 thick floor plank (with Diablo blade) and it works great.

I also used this occasionally to rip down 1/2, 3/4, and even 1 inch plywood without an issue.

It's small, lightweight and convenient for my use cases.

I have the Ryobi Brushless 7-1/4" Circular Saw and it is easily the worst Ryobi tool I own (and I own 20+). In fact, it's the worst power tool I own. It chokes on everything.

What battery are you using? I don't have Ryobi but my dad does. Even my DeWalt would hang up using the lower amp batteries. Swap out to the bigger 5amp battery and it's all good.

why is everyone downvoting these? I own one of these and it works but man is it a chore. It stops a LOT and yes this is with a bigger battery. I own around 35 Ryobi tools and this is the 2nd to worst tool. The #1 worst is the 3/8 impact gun - it couldnt get a bicycle tire nut loose.

I used this with a 4a battery to do an entire attic floor. Tons of rips and sometimes it would get stuck after using it on a lot of cuts but that's if you are pushing too hard. Slow down and let the tool do the work otherwise the tool is working you

This lightweight little saw will get stuck if your blade is dull, you're pushing it too fast, or you get it bound in the kerf because you're not cutting straight. But they are quite functional when used correctly.

Not sure I'd get a 5.5" circular saw unless I had a specific use case. I have the larger 7.25" brushless HP 18v with carbide blade. Owned an old blue Ryobi 18v before that. Performance jump was night and day. Important to use the larger aH batteries (4ah+) and a quality thin kerf blade on all of them like other posters state.

I'm just grateful that 18v tools have enough throughput to do most jobs these days without dragging out an extension cord. So my standards could just be lower. lol

Thanks. Is it cut through OK or it's really struggle since this one a brushed model? I never own a battery powered saw previously.
