Not the greatest promo, unless you have some serious stay activity coming up in the next few months. But I'll take it, as any extra points will help offset the devaluation Marriott has done to their redemption / hotel category process over the past few years. still not as bad as Hilton devalued their program...but it's getting there in the race to the bottom of the devaluation path.

This appears to only be for paid stays as well, so a points stay won't get the extra ENC, at least according to T&C
That was a kick in the teeth to loyal Marriott users.
I did it the hard way - 10+ years of Platinum status + over 900 Marriott night/stays. Bonus nights from Credit card signups helped some years get over the 50 night stay.
You're right, they do just give it away now if one is willing to pay an annual fee for it.
Personally, I would not pay for it, especially if only travelling in the US. - as status in this country does not mean anything. 85% of the time, the desk clerk doesn't even recognize your status - room upgrades are rare - maybe 15-20% of the time and you have to ask!
If one has an extensive overseas trip planned, status is a bit better recognized and you get complimentary upgrades without asking.

Once your company makes your reservation, are you allowed to call in and add your Marriott Number to the reservation?? If this is allowed, I'd go that route so you get some credit for the night stay from Marriott.
Your company might be paying the bill - but you're the one who has to deal with travelling, staying in a hotel away from home/family, forced to eat out/shop for your own groceries in another town, deal with noises/smells, etc.... You should at least get the credit for staying there. Same goes for Airline miles - even the Gov't lets their workers keep all of those!

I'll agree. Marriott proper (e.g. actual Marriott brand, not a sub brand like Courtyard etc) tend to at least have executive lounges with free breakfast and maybe appetizers in the PM, but asian lounges are far better in my experience.
That said, I don't think I'm unusual in that I earn most points and nights/status while traveling for business, and use those accumulated points for family vacations. That is, I don't care so much about free breakfasts and such when traveling on business because the company is paying for it anyway, but for family trips I'm not staying at a Marriott (probably Residence, Courtyard, etc) either. so in other words, free breakfast and drinks for being elite really doesn't matter much since I'm never going to be in a hotel with my family that offers that kind of thing.
