I've used all 3 main types of portable heaters: air blowing ceramic ones, satellite dish ones, and this radiant oil type. This is silent, great for bedrooms at night or WFH conference calls.

I've researched options on Walmart, Amazon, and there are less reliable models. Walmart has one with a bunch of 1-star reviews all saying the plug set their electrical outlet on fire! That's a risk I'm not willing to take.

This model seems to be a tried-and-true highly-reviewed and super-reliable OG. One of the lowest prices since 2009 per the camel Amazon price tracking website.

Plus, direct from manufacturer, full warranty, free shipping.

I had one of these and it fine, but was very slow to heat up. I wonder if the Quartz style heaters would work better. Something like this:

I have one of these heaters and I love it.

I highly recommend one of these programmable thermostat outlets. I use one with my oil-filled radiator heater to heat up my basement office on weekdays when I'm working from home. The office is always a comfortable temperature when I start work, the heater is super-quiet, and it turns off on nights and weekends.

The digital heaters always revert back to the lowest setting when you use the timer function to turn it on. I had an older Delonghi that had manual switches and a manual timer, but can't seem to find any new ones. I want the old old manual style so I can set the heat temp, to what I want it to be, when it turns on. Hope that made sense.

Makes perfect sense....but doesn't this model have basic, manual controls that you can set in advance and use a remote switch to power it on/off?

If it matters to anyone, I still use my 1500w Delonghi oil radiant heater to this day. I'm not 100% sure when I bought it, but I'm guessing it was roughly 1993 or 1994 or so... (maybe 95.)

I'm sure they're completely different products now and maybe even a different company entirely, but I certainly didn't expect 30 years out of the thing when I bought it.

Anything that was produced 20-30 years ago would be far better build quality. I also have one that's at least 20 years old and is still going strong.

I know its advertised that these are the safest but I really am not sure I believe that. The entirety of the thing gets blistering hot to the point it could ignite anything that drops on the entire device. Rather than some typical space heaters that only get hot inside the unit and have a protected shell. Then again my experience is a cheap amazon oil filled that can instantly burn me if I touch anywhere on it. Potentially these have protection in them that prevents the actual unit getting to ignite temps.

While I certainly wouldn't recommend testing your "ignite" theory, the heat itself isn't likely to actually ignite an object that comes in contact with it. Whereas, a heater with an exposed (or semi-exposed) heating element (similar to a toaster) could be far more dangerous. An old-fashioned exposed steam radiator gets incredibly hot, yet doesn't cause fires. I've used these type of heaters for many years and consider them much safer than the fan-forced, low-profile heaters. There may be other safe options (which I'm unfamiliar with) but typical space heaters (with heating elements and fans) are considered less safe than these oil-filled type heaters.
