Unmanaged switches at 10 gb are sold on Amazon for like 15$. This has 4 2.5 and 2 10gb ports too..
Sorry? $15 really? 😂
10G =10Gbps is not the same as 1G=1Gbps.
1Gbps unmanaged switch yes for $15.
Maybe you misread the deal.

Yes, but they also aren't comically far off. You can get a 4x2.5GB, 2x10GB SFP+ POE switch for $30. Being SFP+, you may need to grab some $10-20 SFP+ to RJ45 but ideally you'd be using SFP+ for much over 1gbps anyways. DAC for short runs, fiber for long runs, copper where you run wire in the past and can't get back into the space to upgrade it. Getting RJ45 to Fiber converters to use with this Trendnet is going to add an extra $60-100 to the cost, so you either get a $30 one with POE or get this ~$250 one.

$30? Uh. I think you need to search again. The cheapest POE switches with the specs you listed run at LEAST $60, and that's for some random VIMIN brand.

Yeah, the SFP adapters are going to cost, but not everyone is running fiber inside their own homes....

Not a bad price but nothing special, the Qnap version has always been around $149 the SFP version as cheap as $120 right now.

The cost for consumer 10G is absolutely nuts. I just picked up a Cisco Nexus 9K with 48 10Gb ports for $200 for my home lab and looking for a 12 port 10Gb switch to link into the rest of the house is ~4x that cost right now.

Kinda strange to not have full multi gig, this would be great for some people that need the new faster AP backhauls but many of them are 5gb.

I just got a really nice Zyxel switch that is managed, has full mulgi gig support 3 10g RJ45 ports and a 10g SFP+ port for like $240 that would be my pick by a long shot even if not on sale.

So you can use a fiber SFP if its better fit for your needs, and easily accept any device that needs 1-10gb and have a 1-10gb uplink with an extra port and enough 1g ports for your other devices.

They have an unmanaged version cheaper, but for me especially dealing with multigig I want management to verify things like speed/duplex.

This is not a good price. Since it's unmanaged, software doesn't matter, and you could get something identical for 1/3 the price. This is one I bought a month ago (I have 2GB Fiber) and it works perfectly. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C64N2QN7

Not sure why dude got all the TD? I got a 4x2.5gb + 2 SFP+ for mid-thirties around Christmas. I think they sit mid-$40s without a sale. The chinesium switch market has been a godsend for home labs.

I was going to call BS on y'all, but you look to be correct. This blew my mind a bit. I bought a QNAP QSW-2104-2T last June. It's similar to this one, but with 10 gb Ethernet instead. At that time it seemed like ~$125 was a good price for a switch with SPF+, and ~$150 for one that was all Ethernet.

Did these sub $50 switches with 10 gb just pop up in the past 6 months?

Popped up more than 6 months ago, but they've became more populous in the last 6 months. Definitely a lot more no-name companies with little reviews in the last 6 months.

It's because home users don't usually touch 10g. Plenty of enterprise gear as you note, but usually loud fans.

Try a microtik CRS312, thats probably your cheapest new option for a 12port.
