I picked one of these up last time it was on sale for $349 and am super happy with it! I'd wait for that sale price again if you planned to buy

That price may never come around again with inflation, exchange rates and cost of transportation constantly rising. I don't know how far back you purchased yours but $399 now just might be the comparative equal to $349 when you got yours. Just like once, gas was $1 a gallon. Purchase power of many countries have dropped significantly 2021 to now.

VA panel.

Have VA panels improved that much in the last 10 years? Because once I went IPS I can't go back.

I have an amazing Dell 27 IPS monitor, but want a 32 or a 34.

Honestly I'm pretty happy with this. I wanted to try an ultrawide before going all in on an oled (when they get better) and I'm now fully committed. Coming from a Dell 2721dgf, and a 4k lg IPs, it's nice having uniform blacks. I don't see any black smearing either.. this is a really nice budget 34" ultra wide imo.

Depends on what matters to you. Colors are equal (better if quantum dot), blacks are much better on VA. Neither are great on response time, but individual models can do better if they're well designed to compensate. IPS tends to have annoying latency at lower framerates but ideal viewing angles. VA can have irritating ghosting. I'm pretty happy with this monitor on Superfast mode specifically. My biggest gripe is that on very dark images you'll occasionally notice some irritating choppyness. It's not too hard to tune out, but something it'll be nice to move past when I eventually go QD-OLED.
