Is this worth it nowadays? it kind of feels like you're buying old hw at this point?
Yes and no.
I keep wanting to buy one but the hardware upgrade to a 3 isn't that great for the price.
I liked my PSVR but the games were meh. It looks like there are some fun games on the quest but it looks like fun for a few months then back in the box.
I would get a quest 2 myself since the 3 won't give me something more for the price but I'll also just wait for more games.
Pavlov looks pretty impressive with its realism. Thanks for the recs!
Onward has even more realism, but the multiplayer usually doesn't allow for respawning until the round is complete, but its touted as the most realistic quest standalone shooter. Regular version of pavlov available on PCVR. I also really enjoy the Doom 3 Quest Port, as well as the other game ports for quest like Half Life and return to castle wolfenstein. requires some "sideloading" and the game files, they can be found online if you don't have the games already. For PCVR i also like Skyrim and Fallout4 VR. I've also spent a fair amount of time in Zenith The Last City (MMO) but i'm kind of biased towards MMO games in general.
Theres also things like beat saber and pistol whip, superhot VR, they play really well in VR.

The Quest 3's biggest gains IMO aren't in the processor. It's the much shorter length, making it feel lighter, and the insanely better lenses that are sharp and clear edge to edge. BUT, I use my quest headset mostly to stream games from my pc, so the processor improvements aren't really…relevant to me.
The Q2 is still a solid place to get into VR if you aren't interested enough to drop $500 on it. Both stream great from pc, if you have your network set up properly, and native games will still have Q2 as the target hardware for a couple years.
But Quest 2s are great. Solid price. Just make sure to get a gaming rig and a high bandwidth USB-C cable to get the most out of it. And go into it knowing it's a novelty toy.
Get one on facebook marketplace for ~$100, buy a new facial interface for $10 so you don't have to get someone else's germs on you, good as new. No one should be spending over $200 on this thing when it's already aging and the Quest 3 Lite is around the corner
