These are hollow garbage that bend if you look at them hard.

I would never buy them. Invest some money to solid plastic or fiber glass ones. Even your grand, grand kids will use them.

A stake of 60 inches is kind of short.

I just use 10 ft EMT [homedepot.com]. For those of you in the south with indeterminant tomatoes... probably going to need the 2 ft buried and full 8 ft height for your maters.

What does the south have to do with anything? I live in Massachusetts and grown indeterminate tomatoes and cherry tomatoes that get 12+ long.

I've used these and they weren't bad. I have raised beds and the soil stays pretty soft, so they generally go in pretty easily, but hit something hard, and they bend and will break. Out of a pack of 20 or so, I've busted 2 or 3. I won't be using them again for my tomatoes, only because I found a roll of concrete wire on Marketplace and bought that to make tomato cages, but these worked ok for what they are. For big indeterminate tomatoes, it usually took two of them to hold up the plants.

Haha. My bad. I've lived both north and south. Here in FL, still have last year's tomatoes growing while starting this year's! Just never had time for them to get as big as that back in my days of living in CT.

Maybe... get these instead [menards.com]

I can confirm the hollow. I had a few bend on me when I pulled it out end of season
Do you know if these thinner than the comparable ones at HD/Lowes?

Bought these to replace the fiber glass ones which sometimes shed fine glass fibers into my skin if I don't wear gloves. There is no way to pick them out and the pain will last for several days. Afraid to continue to use them in vegetable garden.

Presumably the growing season is longer in the South than in a colder climate, thus allowing the plants to get relatively larger.

Home depot has fiberglass rebar bars now with special coating that would prevent fibers to go through although now sure how long it would last if exposed to UV and elements. Also cost is higher but I'm sure they would outlive 4-5x the ones listed here: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Owens...44#overlay

good price. not sure what i'll use these for, they are too short for my tomatoes but i'm sure i'll find a use for them.
These helped me win the squirrel wars of 2023.

Had some squirrels attacking my garden everyday. Tried everything sprinkling hot pepper, black pepper, spraying plants with hot pepper mix I would watch in horror on the blink cams I set in the garden as they would rip the plant up then spit it back out.

Ended up buying alot of these and using deer netting to make a perimiter fence. They can't climb it, and it blends in so not a big eye sore.
