Your post is full of misinformation. Sonos S1 and Sonos S2. Two apps. Everything from 2004-2018ish works with S1 and new gen stuff works with S2. Some products work with both. As someone who had $5000++ of S1 equipment from 2008-2018 and sold it all to change over to S2 stuff, I can say I got my money's worth from the S1 stuff. Tech changes. The S1 stuff still works perfectly. I have a ton of friends who still use S1 and bought my S1 stuff.

Sorry that you either got in late or thought that Sonos should limit itself to the tech/quality of products from 2005. Most of us understand that PS3 can't play PS5 games.

I used to be be one of the absolute biggest Sonos fans. A raving fan. Just be aware that Sonos doesn't future proof their products very well. I can't even update my software and apps to get new functionality without getting rid of 15 earlier generation speakers. —Thousands of dollars of speakers. And if I buy new speakers, they are limited by the old software and apps.


Sonos is fine for accessory speakers if you go in with your eyes open. But if you are setting up a full home theater, you may end up wishing you had used a Sonos Port with traditional speakers and a receiver.


Just remember that the tech Sonos links to the speakers has a shelf life that Sonos determines and be aware that Sonos has been woefully short-sighted in the past. Sonos wants to sell you an entire new system a decade or so down the road. Which, for speakers, is ridiculous. Otherwise, you may end up being quite frustrated down the road when Sonos screws their customer base again.


People will say, "They still do what they could do when you first bought them." But that's not true. I bought Sonos specifically because their primary advertised feature was that that they could continue to adapt to future technology, services, etc... That is no longer the case with my speakers. Sonos will never get another dime of my money. Fool me once...


And I could care less if you downvote this post. It doesn't exist for you. It exists for the people who are considering entering the Sonos ecosystem or people considering big Sonos home theater purchases. They deserve to be fully informed consumers before making a significant purchase.

The real deal at the end of 2023 was the refurbished Arc for $539, which I got. I'm now looking for a deal on either era 100s or era 300s. There are ZERO right now

Same price at Costco but you get the $80 apple or Sirius GC from Costco.
I got the Arc at Christmas and submitted the GC just recently and was notified "approved and will get a digital GC shortly"
I saw adorama's price was a few cents cheaper… literally cents Smilie

I grabbed refurb ARC SL and One SLs plus sale Sub in 2022 with CapOne 12% back. Spent a lot but felt like stealing considering the discount. Refurb warranty is the same as new so no brainer

I agree. Without sub, arc is worst. It's better to buy beam gen 1 which is my favorite.

I bought the whole Sonos Arc, Sub, and 300s setup at end of year and returned it after trying out the Samsung Q990c. Save yourself some money and get the better system for $700-$800 total. Sonos is also coming out with a new Arc this year so I would wait if you are wanting to stick with Sonos.
