from a review last November: for Arm & Hammer Sensitive Skin Free & Clear: "Contains 1,4-Dioxane, a carcinogen. Possibly being sold illegally to NY state residents.11/23: NY recently passed a law limiting the level of 1,4-Dioxane, a likely carcinogen in consumer products. law has several stages and will make a concentration of 1 ppm the maximum allowable on 12/31/23. manufacturers can apply for a year waiver.do not see arm& hammer in list of waivers on NY environmental protection website nd the concentration it contains has been illegal since 12/31/22."
" avoid products that contain contaminated ingredients such as SLS or SLES, PEG, polyethylene, polyethylene glycol, polyoxyethyelene, polyoxynolethylene, and chemicals ending in –eth and –oxynol. These ingredients are manufactured in a way that can result in simultaneous formation of 1,4-dioxane as an impurity....While some companies remove 1,4-dioxane from their finished products, not all companies do, and this is not disclosed on labels. Shoppers should demand that companies manufacturing personal care and cleaning products remove 1,4-dioxane... or at the very least label which products will contain it!

Sounds like another ridiculous Prop 65 style law...

Funny that NY can focus on trivial stuff like this claiming safety concerns, while at the same time trying to force people to take incredibly dangerous pharmaceutical products.

feel like the old Sd wouldn't have edited comments so much, shopping for detergent is pretty boring, why kill any signs of life in the comments? ...really don't think it deserved to be deleted, everything was factual, not opinion about these carcinogens & hormone disruptors that are in every state's drinking water now. My reply countered the reply to my post with the page linked from the cleaning and polluting chemical industries' BS on the matter.
There are other options even for big brands that have much less of this chemical in it.. The cheapest alternative is to make your own, lots of recipes online using much safer substances sold everywhere.

So what is the alternative then?

I use ECOS from Costco, I've used it for years.. It lasts a long time & I get it when it's on sale.
