This is the trail series, which means it's lighter, but also easier to dent/damage. I had one hydro flask almost 10 years before I replaced it, reason being that the gasket got very nasty, and apparently once you replace it they will start leaking. Anyways, I got one of these a while back and I'm enjoying it, but I foresee the gasket getting gross again. The other versions of hydro flask won't have this issue since the gasket is on the outside (not embedded in the lid).
Can't you just buy a new lid, independent of the bottle, for both series?

Yes you can, but mine was old and discontinued. Therefore, they didn't make the lid anymore, so I just decided to get a new one.

These dent really easily. I dropped it once from not very high and it left a big dent. If that bothers you, don't buy these. Otherwise these are light and great for those who want to reduce weight on hikes

They do have a lifetime warranty so they probably can replace it for free.

100% true and my biggest frustration since buying one last year. Even 3rd party sellers on Amazon don't make one long enough for the trail series yet

Not sure if I'm going away with my marbles,

But $20 /$30 /$40 for a water container on a slickdeals forum seems a bit funny and out of the real world..
When it comes to basic things like this, I find the dollar store fits the bill and smile at the slick folks that I cross paths with 😊
I worked with someone who used a pellegrino glass bottle as his water bottle for several years. So it cost $3 I guess? No lid of course, but it was at work, so everything is a flat surface.

Very YMMV but they also had these at our Home Goods for $19, I believe.

I picked up the 40oz because these can actually fit into my cup holders in our cars.

Is it the Trail one or the regular one? I might go look for it if it is the Trail one..
