A couple of things to consider with these receivers: Emotiva's firmware tends to be buggy which is why I stay away from their processors. In addition, these receivers use their proprietary EmoQ room correction - no Dirac or Audyssey available.
XLR connectors are only a differentiator if you
are picking up noise with an RCA connector. They don't improve sound quality.
I do own a couple of XPA gen 3 amplifiers and have been very happy with them. I use them with a Denon x4300h and x3500h as processors. Both these receivers have Audyssey XT32.

My xpa 5 gen 3 amp is amazing!

For the sound quality I would say yes, for features no. You got to know what you are getting into. Like no hdmi 2.1, no auro 3d, plain and boring text based UI etc. it's a no bells and whistles processor meant to primarily do what an audio processor has gotta do.

Video Inputs and Outputs:
(6) HDMI 2.0b compliant HDMI video inputs (all with full support for 4k UHD video, HDCP 2.2, HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision).
(2) HDMI 2.0b compliant HDMI video outputs (primary output supports both ARC and eARC).

If you know their amps you get well built & get good clean power, 9 channels at 85 watts is solid.
It will process 13 channels, at this price pretty incredible.
Only 2.0 as others mentioned and the XLR's for subs is nice, keep in mind they are parallel.
Their EmoQ RC I'll just say isn't the greatest, takes a little bit of work. imo it's the main downside.
You get a lot of performance for this price!

my xpa gen 3 was not built in China. But some models are.
But what strikes me here is that they peeled the onion back and identified what is really most important for audio enjoyment (TV, Video, Music alike), and that is clean and stable sound on all channels, low noise floor (no interference or buzzing on any channels), and a solid build quality.
If you need HDMI 2.1 this is not for you, If you need a fancy GUI to set this up, it is not for you. If you enjoy pure, clean sound - this is a bargain!
