I was looking for a video doorbell recently and this was one of the shortlisted one but I read the reviews that even if you wire it, it still needs batteries. I don't understand the logic but I went with reolink 4K doorbell wired for $75. So much better. You can add SD Card, you can do rtsp and also connect to your Synology NAS and record 24*7 with Surveillance Station app. So far I am really happy. No subscription and works great. Install was easy too.
it needs to be said that there blink doorbells have a very finicky latch at the bottom that you should use a flat tool to open or the weak latch will break.

the pro is that with the blink module you can put an sdcard in it and dont have to pay a subscription for the cloud for recordings, unlike ring.

These don't even support showing you who's at the door automatically on your echo show. Wyze is better

Do I need to have subscription to use the two way audio feature?
No but by the time you get the live feed from the app whoever was at the door already left.

No experience with the Doorbell but it looks like it uses the Blink app and recent posts on their forums give the impression that there were significant issues introduced with a recent release. Might want to research it before committing.

My ring doorbell subscription increased from $40 a year to $50. Now I'm looking for a better video doorbell with no subscription. Any suggestions? I have a couple of blink cameras and they work fine for my needs, so a blink doorbell could be fine for me.

I don't understand why anyone goes for the subscription cameras when there are so many better options out there. Original non-sub was Sky Bell years ago. Now, Eufy is probably the best.

And if you want continuous recording, get the Ubiquity Doorbell. I switched to the Ubiquity (unify) doorbell recently and it is hands down the best doorbell on the market. Had to upgrade my transformer for it though.

You can set that up in the Alexa app with a routine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRdL1Pe6Csk

I have two of these and they work well with my current doorbell. The wyze cameras do work better but you need a 30VA doorbell transformer for each. I wanted to use Wyze for my home assistant setup, but wasn't ready to hack up my door bell and using their adapters to get it to work. Having that onboard battery at least helps in that case, but you are right, if you want more video monitoring go Wyze. It's all in what you are looking for. Having the SD card on the outside switch is kinda dumb as well, but no where else to put it on the wyze setup.

For anyone building a new house, run CAT6 to the doorbell location! My mistake.

Worth noting that these do NOT have detection settings regarding moving objects or just humans. Got one for a family member as a gift and it wouldn't stop triggering over tree limbs moving in the breeze across the street. Tried refining with the activity zones and still wouldn't stop. Turned down sensitivity, same issue. Went with Eufy instead which has a setting for human detection.

Are you referring to reolink 2k PoE - https://store.reolink.com/us/video-doorbells/
If not, can you please share a link to the 4k version?

Nooooo, do not purchase EUFY. I bought the 2K. Batteries depleted in less than a month consistently. When I first purchased it, I charged it fully and left it in our bedroom before going on vacation for 2 weeks. Left it in there for another 10 days or so with it facing the wall. Virtually no alerts. Low battery. EUFY support was hilarious and laughable. They sent me another unit and the same thing. Long story short, I got my money back. While it worked OK, as with other doorbells, you cannot replace the batteries.

Should have bought Eufy. No cloud service required and easy rechargeable batteries.

Yup. Rechargeable batteries are 1.2V vs 1.5V for the batteries this needs.
There have been some 1.5V rechargeables on Amazon over the last year. They have a USB charging port built in. HW? and others
