I run Milwaukee grinders at one shop and I have a Ridgid for mobile work and the same with an additional Ryobi at home. They put in work. Ridgid runs great and I would recommend for a battery powered grinder over the Ryobi because of the battery penis or even Milwaukee for the price and Life Time warranty. All come from parent company TCi. Battery is the real difference. The 5ah on the Milwaukee gribder and the Ridgid 4ah with adapter on the same tool are too similar. Ridgid for the win because of the battery warranty.

M18 9Ah or 12Ah are runners but they cause issues with the elbow over repeated use.
The reason they say that you cannot use a cut-off disc with this grinder is because of safety/lawyers. It'll fit a cut-off disc just fine and will have no problem cutting metal, but it does not come with a wrap around guard, so if you shatter the disc, shrapnel could be an issue.

That being said, many of us have been using cut-off discs on grinders with regular guards (or no guards!!!) for decades, but you do you and assess the level of risk that you will personally accept.
Not my experience and I use mine, but I don't abuse them. When the batteries get weak after a couple of years of use they get weak.

The claim that a 4 1/2" 18 volt grinder can't cut metal is ridiculous. Perhaps they are referring to the included griding disk. You slap a cut off wheel on these and they cut for days if you have the batteries to swap in. I regularly cut 3/16 with a cut off wheel and smooth and shape with a 40 - 60 grit flap disk.

It's a large black appendage for inserting. Some may prefer, I do not.

Ridiculous adapting a Ryobi battery to any other tool brand.

I have the jigsaw but need the grinder.

* if you or anyone else wants just the jigsaw for 76, DM me. I already have the jigsaw. my total with tax was 152.55... so if someone pays 1/2, if not I'll sell it locally on FB or Craigslist.

my delivery estimate is Tuesday Feb 6th.

*update someone has claimed the jigsaw

Any thoughts on these negative grinder reviews like:

No Pressure or it will stall. Using in remote locations is the only use for this, it's marginally better than a hacksaw for cutting, no pressure so you'll never wear out a cutting disk. Light grinding, sanding, thin material cutting is all this is capable of. Wish I never bought it.

I return the grinder because it says you can't cut metal with it. That's what I bought a grinder for I can't believe the can't cut metal. You're not allowed to use a cutting disk on it. It says it right in the directions that's so ridiculous

Very tempting, but these are two tools I only use a couple of times per year, so the corded HFT monstrosities may just have to do for a bit longer.
