$144 was the "Was" price, not the list price. The list price is $170 on Brother. Also $170 on Walmart [walmart.com].

They also have the 2717 for $110. It appears to be the same printer. I can't find any significant differences in the specs.

No fax is the difference I see... (which is not a deal killer, unless you are one of the few still using FAX). But this unit is OOS =-(.

I've been holding out for a deal with duplex scanning, but I caved on the 2717. I have a MFC9840CDW that's old as dirt and barely prints anymore, but maybe I can shove it in a corner in case I need duplex scanning again.
