Since these are passive speakers, the nominal power rating doesn't mean much. The max power rating of 120w is what they can handle without damage, so the more useful number. The fact that these are so highly rated with a large number of reviews shows that they work well for most people.

I thought these would sound better than my old JBL Northridge outdoor speakers but they didn't even come close.

FYI these are only good for 35w nominal, meaning non peak power. I would say this is fairly low wattage.

These or the Polk Atrium 5? They seem to be similar on paper.

These are decent outdoor weatherproof speakers. Not much bass.

They have been off and on for this price the last few years.

Bought my first pair of these in 2005 and they were great. Only replaced because I installed a misting cooling system and the grills discolored, yet the still sounded fine. Replaced with Niles Audio in 2020 which sounded very similar at 4x the cost. Finally moved and purchasing these for the new house powered by older Sonos amp. Pool party time in a few months.

I've had a couple pairs of these for a few years. Great outdoor speakers for the price. I would highly recommend adding a passive outdoor sub to add some bass though. I'm using the OSD Audio outdoor sub.

I power mine with one of those cheap Ayima A07 amps and they sound just fine. Fosi makes good cheap amp options too. These speakers aren't the best in the world, but for this price, they don't suck and they are great for their purpose.

How to wire them outdoor? I guess audio wires won't last long outside?

Personally, I think Yamaha is one of the best audio values for consumer grade. Both of these are 2-way speakers so you're really getting them to put decent sounding music outside - not close your eyes and feel as if Michael Buble is performing live just for you.

As a former national trainer in this department, go with what you think sounds best to you, but otherwise - or in this case - save the money. You could even put it towards other audio/video resources, like wireless setups

I used marine speaker cable at my last house as the were mostly out of the sun, but still could get wet. I'm using proper UV rated outdoor wire this time.

I have these and the Polk atrium 4s (both connected to a Fosi BT amp). The Polks IMO are better speakers, but for $50 the Yamahas are great. Would not hesitate to buy.

I use regular 18ga speaker wire tucked along the eaves of my house where my speakers are. No sun, no rain. The speaker wire runs from my entertainment center inside my den, up inside my wall to the attic where it then runs to the eaves outside.
