I always wonder whether gaming headsets can be a good cheaper alternative to higher end non gaming headsets for use on i.e. the plane.

Exactly what I've been hoping to find. A sub $100 headset that can be used for gaming + avoid though noise cancellation to use on an airplane. Removable mic is also preferred since it'd look weird with a big old mic when you're not gaming.

Anyone know how this compares to the Sony Playstation headsets? I've been using them for years and love them, but I'm also down to try something new at that price.

Don't bother these are very low quality. I bought these when they were down to 25. Only thing it's got going for it is USB and Bluetooth. Also its extreme light, thats where the upsides end. Doesn't work with any of the logitech software so you can't adjust bass/treble.

I have the ARCTIS NOVA PRO's. They do wireless radio and bluetooth simultaneously. Mic slides into the headset and is not visible for travel. You do NOT need the DAC. USB-C charging works just fine.

$350: https://steelseries.com/gaming-he...laystation

I have the Arctis 7 at my office, which I also travel with. The mic in this one is also hidden in the headset. Much cheaper for something very similar.

$160: https://steelseries.com/gaming-he...olor=white

I have a couple pairs of the Razer blutooth glasses too, they are great for phone calls and listening in quieter environments. They aren't loud enough for a car (barely)/plane (not very good).

One last thing on the Arctis headsets, they have a center knob inside the speaker...I dont know why. It doesnt effect me at all, but a friend of mine couldnt wear them because the knob was pushing into his ears. He is 6'5"...just fyi

I think you missed the part where he mentioned "sub $100" headset. That is not to say that there IS a good option that is "sub $100" with the features he was listing.

I saw it and I raised it to quality vs price. Which is why I posted the prices up too.
