Define "fake" when every single recognizable sunglass brand is owned by the same monopoly, pumped out of the same shitty factories in China for $1.50, then upcharged hundreds of dollars to brand obsessed chumps?
The same shit materials they use in the "real" products.
None of those BS brands make their own sunglasses, they contract with Luxottica, or they're just a fake shell brand wholly owned by Luxottica to continue perpetrating the farce of a competitive market, to brand an ODM design with minimal tweaks, find a stupid gimmick material to incorporate like Titanium or carbon fiber, use the absolute cheapest manufacturing process and materials sourcing possible, then pump them out by the thousands using child labor.
Don't for one second think that in overpaying for "Ray-Bans" or "Dolce & Cabbana", that a single one of their employees ever touched your glasses.
The entire industry is a corrupt, monopoly owned garbage fire. You may as well buy the $18 crap unbranded generic Chinese knockoffs with the unpronouncable names that flood Amazon.
For what it's worth, I have purchased 6 pairs of Serengeti's from eyedictive and never had any issues or concerns with quality. Do I actually believe most name-brand sunglasses are really worth their retail $300+ price? No, but I've been happy many times over with $30-50 pairs from this site.
In for 1, not that I need them…

I got 2 pairs of the Titanium model during their previous sale (one black and one brown) and loved them so much. Super light and with great Zeiss optics. Highly recommended!
-----------
Shoot....I just notice the titanium model wasn't the model I got before. The two pairs I bought before were "Zeiss Polarized Titanium Navigator" which is not in sale this time...The ones I got are really decent and look better...

The problem is a matter of trust. You don't know what material they use in fake products. How much is your eye worth? Original products are produced to a certain standard.

For the record:
"Luxottica retails its products through stores that it owns, predominantly LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, Pearle Vision, Target Optical, and Glasses.com. It also owns EyeMed, one of the largest vision health insurance providers. In addition to licensing prescription and non-prescription sunglasses frames for many luxury and designer brands including Chanel, Prada, Giorgio Armani, Burberry, Versace, Dolce and Gabbana, Michael Kors, Coach, Miu Miu and Tory Burch, the Italian conglomerate further outright owns and manufacturers Ray-Ban, Persol, Oliver Peoples, and Oakley. Luxottica's market power has allowed it to charge price markups of up to 1000%."
"The merger with Essilor additionally gave Luxottica control of Foster Grant and Costa Del Mar"
But they also basically own the ODM market as well. Providing frames and manufacturing, shipping logistics for a large percentage of the eyeglass industry.
But it's not all about Luxottica. They are obviously the big bad wolf in the eyeglass market, but their behavior has spawned countless ghost company copycats and shady "back of the warehouse" suppliers.
My point on the meaninglessness of the word "real" in this industry is that there's no such thing. No discernable barriers anymore between the legitimate makers and the counterfeits, because they're literally selling the same garbage, produced in the same factories.
