Double the price as last time (launch)
These metro deals have been getting worse and worse in the past few months, during the holidays I had two XM numbers I needed to port out from them and I was hoping to use them at local metro store, none of the dealers around were willing to honor the "No activation-fees" promo Metro was doing for the holidays

Yes, Metro is still better than others.
Boostmobile charges the full price of the phone after six months to the buyers who have not activated the phone.
Metro does not put people on autopay when you purchase online.
Metro Stores (now all dealer's stores) are the dens of thieves.

But were you able to get one via on-line & not a store?

I can't remember seeing it in stock at all the last 6 months.

180 days unlocking policy means?

You've to feed metro company for 6 months paying $40 each month?

Or

Just pay for 1 month and keep the phone idle for 5 months and then apply for unlock?

Details please

Price will likely drop back down to the original $99 at some point in the near future.

1 month payment required, any continuation of service after that first month is optional.

The phone automatically unlocks 180 days after phone activation (not account activation), regardless of whether you continued your service after that initial month.

Half false statement. I am sorry to correct you.
There is no "automatically unlock". You need manually request to unlock the phone under "network" menu from the phone to request "permanent unlock" after 180 days.
I have no idea why the false "automatically unlock" statement always floats from Metro deals.
I have 15~20 Metro phones for years, there is no "automatically unlock".
it only could be the case for Pixel or Apple devices, but not for other Android devices

From all the deals I saw posted here in the past month or so I think only Spectrum had good trade in values, sadly (or thankfully) I don't live in their area, But they did have good deals

mine has "get one for 99.99 and keep your number" link in the top of the page when you click that it specifies in store only.

Guess they were tired of slick dealers ripping them off online. The stores are a nightmare, right?

it is 8gb ram i noticed which is nice. thought maybe it was only 6gb

I bought a Moto G Stylus 2022 edition last March and only paid for one month. That phone eventually unlocked on its own - I never contacted Metro to request an unlock or pressed anything in the Settings menu.
