I've got this in silver and it really is an excellent microphone especially for the price
Same here. It's been great. Excellent sound. My only advice is to consider a mic stand. The flip out legs move a bit. I 3D printed a little round foot for it to sit on my desk.
Great price on a very good, not excellent, microphone. If you are on the fence, just get this already. You'll be happy unless you are a professional.
I have a Samson "Go Mic", which is smaller, but still excellent. For all but the most serious podcaster, these will be fine. 100x better than the built-in microphones on a laptop.
However, don't expect the deep voice like an excellent Blue Yeti for 4x the price delivers.
I have no plans to replace the GoMic. For those who care, it is plug-n-use with Linux and always has been. I'd expect this model to be as well.
If your intent is for music recording, I think you'll want a different mic to get richer sound.
USB port on this (and the smaller Samson Go AND most of the Blue Yetis) is fragile. Be careful not to yank on or trip over the cable. The problem with all of them is that to save on assembly costs, they solder the USB port directly to the edge of the PCB but don't reinforce it.
