These are probably the worst 18v batteries Ryobi offers. You won't get much use out of your power tools. You'll lose a lot of torque and power despite the battery being at half charge (which comes quickly). There's an HP version if you want a lighter, more useful 2Ah battery. Hard pass on this unless you're needing them for zero-to-low torque applications and tools such as fans and lights.

These batteries are going to put two holes in my wall just as well as any other battery. It's all about matching the tool to the job.

Earlier this year HD offered the RYOBI starter pack of One+ HP 2.0, 4.0, and 6.0 batteries plus charger for $109 - that was a very nice deal

If you're putting two holes in your wall, then you are making my point.

I have a lot of Ryobi power tools and nicer HP batteries, but I have also started using their lights, fans, inflators, vacuums, etc and my nice batteries are spread a little thin. This will be a great option for those things that don't need the nicer batteries. Thank you!

To echo this, these are the only style I've had fail on me (2ah or less). Try not to run them too low. I have about 3 from recent purchases, and plan to only use them in the inflator and light duty tools. I used one in my yard blower and it took the battery below minimum voltage and would no longer charge.

Great pointโ€”that too has happened to me. It's worth mentioning the "dead" batteries can possibly be "jumped" so the charger can detect enough voltage to charge.

I'm reading you won't get any benefits with an HP battery in a non-hp tool.

I'm fully on the Ryobi train and it's nice to have one of these around for light duty once in a while but I have no idea why anyone would want 4 of them.
