This is currently the lowest price for a UL Certified, 48Amp EVSE. I purchased this new for $299 from Woot few months back but that deal is no longer available.

Things I like
  • Amperage is adjustable via app from 6 amp to 48 amp in increments of 1 amp. Proper hardwiring is required for amps over 40. I am using the NEMA 14-50 plug for 40 Amp max
  • The physical mounting on the wall Install was fairly simple.
  • You can schedule the charge start and stop time with the app.
  • You can manually override the start time using the app.
  • You can set your electric rate to show charge cost summery of each charge session.
  • Strong internal WiFi antenna. My EVSE is fairly far from my WiFi router. I was concerned about low wifi signal where my other IOT devices nearby struggles. Emporia connects without issue and I am able to see live power usage chart update by the second.
  • Long 24' cable. This wasn't long enough for me. I ordered an 20' j1772 extension cable (against code). I have no issues with this charger + extension cable.
  • I accidentally ran over the cable. Cable survived with no visible damage. I reached out to support and they responded fairly quickly.
    • "The cable is durable, and you should not be passing the car over it every day. If it happens by accident once or twice, it should not be an issue. The cable is durable and should last for the life time of the charger."

You would have to provide your own conduit with wire (2x 6awg thhn plus 10awg ground) for hardwired installation.
