I've had this bag in 40L for a few years to use as a carry-on. I paid about $140 as part of a travel pack and it was well worth it. For $20 more, if you need a bit more size, 40L is the largest that will still fit in an overhead.

Very good quality materials, zippers, and lots of pockets. Has lasted about 85 flights thus far and will easily last that many more.

Excellent find OP. This is a very well reviewed bag and is Wirecutter's choice for a business travel carry-on backpack.

https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutte...el-bag-30l

I have been using this bag (in the Desert Palm / Pond Blue colorway) for about 3 months and overall I'm a big fan. It's not perfect, but it's thoughtfully designed, has easy access to devices, papers, etc... and is not excessively heavy on its own.

I travel with it frequently between NYC and London. My biggest complaint is that it's hard to get it to slip over the handle of my roll-a-board suitcase. But that's also because my roll-a-board tends to roll away while I'm trying to slide the Topo on top.

I paid $129 on a pre-BF sale and I was pleased with that price, but at $59 (even $69 if you need shipping) this is a steal.

Inflated msrp? It looks like it's probably worth around 50 to 60.

That looks like a pretty high quality convertable travel backpack. Nice find, OP!

I used their Rover pack, which had a narrow shoulder patterned strap shape, cut into my neck with both straps on. If you have traps, or any neck muscles, I'd say try it first.

This is a great travel pack. I purchased their travel bundle which included this pack. Has held up very well and is a great deal at this price.

Thanks for the feedback. I have had the Patagonia Black Hole Mini MLC 30L ($200), Cotopaxi Allpa 28L ($170) and 35L ($195), which are fairly comparable in quality/price/volume, this Topo is the more comfortable for my fit (shoulders, hip…etc.), so at a discounted price of $59, I think it is a fairly good deal.

At the Topo store, the 40L is discounted to $79 for selected colors, and I was tempted to get that instead, but after I loaded the 30L, it was already a good load for my aging body.

Would take you a minute to look this up.

Limit is 18 x 14 x 8 on most airlines this bag states it is 20 x 12.5 x 7. You be the judge. I've never seen anyone get stopped from bringing a backpack as a personal item with another roller board and some of these are monsters. Will they catch 2" on height?

YMMV of course, it will depend a lot on the airline you're flying and how strict they are with personal items.

I fly with mine as my personal item and usually board the plane with the bag sitting on top of my roll-a-board and no airline has ever questioned it as a personal item.

I've successfully carried this backpack as my personal item on small domestic short-haul jets, international flights between US and Europe & Middle East, and and international flights between Middle East, India, and Europe.

I think it's actually 22x14x8".

EDIT: Seems to vary quite a bit by airline.
