It's very important to note that the 5950x, while not having terrible gaming performance, is not a very good gaming cpu. The earlier poster referencing this as having "2/3rd the cache of the x3d" is failing to account for the fact that this is a dual chiplet amd cpu which has to deal with inter-ccd latency when gaming. The 5800x3d is substantially faster than the 5950x in gaming, so if you're looking for a slot in upgrade for a gaming machine the 5800x3d (or newly released 5700x3d if you're on a tight budget) is by far the better option.
Where the 5950x shines is raw multithreaded performance and power efficiency. The 5950x performs fairly similarly overall to the current gen 7900x (12 core zen4 cpu) in productivity workloads that can make full use of its 32 threads. It also uses remarkably little power to achieve said performance, in all core blender workloads the 5950x is only beaten out in terms of power efficiency by the 7800x3d and the 7980x (64 core threadripper cpu).
At $330 this isn't a cheap slot in upgrade by any means, and is easily more than half the cost of building on a new platform (purchasing a new cpu, motherboard, and ram). If you don't require massive multithreaded performance for productivity applications which can make use of the 32 threads this cpu offers, this cpu is a waste of money. Likewise, if you don't already have an am4 build which entirely meets your need in every way except multithreaded cpu performance, you should avoid the 5950x and build on a new platform. Particularly for those with access to a microcenter, which offers extremely good sales on cpu+mobo+ram bundles, purchasing the 5950x might not make any sense.

Very tempting for a B550 MB based spare PC I've got with a 5600G.
EDIT: FYI there are other lower priced listings that the PRESIDENT20 code doesn't apply to.
$365 was the last good price.
if you use a lot of applications that use multi cores? then yes. if you just game, probably not. unless youre talking about unoptimized games like city skylines
this at least might be for the weekend warriors that game heavy as well
I hate that they lock the clocks to prevent burning out the vcache but they were able to put almost enough cache on their higher cpus so I'm not sure why they continue with the 7000x3ds; that said the CCD is split so you really don't ever get to use all the cores when Gaming but it sure does look cool when you have them all chooch since SMT works so well on ryzen

I also used my 4x Fuel Points coupon to order up a $300 ebay gift card (via Smiths/Kroger/GiftcardMall).
So that's about 1.20 off a gallon (1200 points) on a 20 gallon tank is 24 bucks saved.
I have the 5950, and I actually undervolt mine slightly, and this thing is an absolute killer, but it is not my main gaming CPU. It is AMAZING for some of my encoding work that I drop my CPU on instead of GPU just for higher quality.
I ipgraded from 3600x to 5900x. I am very happy. With this 5950x, even better. 👍

May I ask how you purchase these gift card while still getting the fuel points? I would do this much more often if I didn't have to make a trip to the store first.
Thanks in advance!
These fuel points apply to all gift cards that aren't pre-paid credit cards. If the card has an activation fee, you won't get bonus points for those.
eBay, Amazon, and pretty much every other store besides Walmart should have some type of gift card offering.
I buy them and make sure my subscribe and save uses my gift card balance. eBay and Amazon will keep them saved when you redeem them so you don't have to keep up with them. Amazon makes it pretty easy to just redeem and apply it to your balance.
With eBay, if you start to check out, enter a gift card, but don't finish checking out, the gift card won't be saved to your account. You have to at least use part of that gift card to cover part of your purchase or it may not be saved. Just a heads up for those buying eBay cards and try to redeem more than one at checkout but don't use them all.
I keep a note on my phone with pictures of the card numbers just in case
A $250 gift card at 4x fuel points saves me about $16 on a tank. (1000 pts for $1 per gallon. 16 gallons in my tank)
Lastly, just a heads up to others, at least in my area, we may only redeem 1000 points per fueling and the limit is 35 gallons per redemption. So that's a savings of up to $35 for each $250 gift card (4x bonus points promotion) or $500 gift card (2x normal bonus points).
Since my car only has a 16 gallon tank, I'll have friends pull up behind me and have both of us fill up without replacing the nozzle until we both fill up. Fill up one tank, have a friend hold the hose while I move my car, and then switch.
Fill up your boats, lawnmowers, gas canisters, and more.
If I have points expiring that I can't use, I'll share them with friends and family. They are always happy to save $20 or so on a fill up.
Points expire at the end of the last day of the following month.
For example, if you earn points on March 1st through the 31st, they expire on April 30th.
Also, points don't combine between months. So if you earn 800 points on March 31st and 200 points on April 1st, the 800 earned in March will be in a separate pool than the 200. Any points earned during March will be combined and can be redeemed at any time until the end of April.
You can redeem them as often as you like, with a minimum of 100 points per redemption and in multiples of 100. 10 cents off each gallon, per 100 points redeemed.
If you have 399 points at the end of the month, you'll only be able to redeem 300 of them.
Best to get as many gallons as you can with each redemption.
I know this was a lot but hopefully it helps someone out.
