I hate to break it to you that most enhancements are methyl acrylic based; gel shellac is just diluted soft gel with color; the large part even I can have irritation from is having open skin from cuticle work then you apply gel right on top of it; so therefore you wound your skin then the gel practically cures on it (the gel cures as an exothermic reaction) which might cause discomfort during curing as a heat spike; even if you are acclimated to it the reaction still occurs and can inflame the skin that was just wounded
Home use has so many different conditions that can contribute on why there can be irritation; just because you are the only one who uses the implements we make the fallacy of they are still sanitary for our own person use but you can infect yourself with your own bacteria and induce it into your bloodstream by improper techniques
I'm not stating it's for your particular situation but just to have others consider to change the methodology slightly to reduce risk
Nothing much to do with China but the system as a whole uses it
Hundreds and thousands of people utilize it; given over a long period of time nothing is good and will see change but as professionals we try not to risk harm, whether short or long term
Any damage listed usually is from negligence from the individual who has applied gel before and removed incorrectly or if it was removed "forcibly"
There's not recorded instances of nail damage from applying gel polish nor there ever will be; UV light does not harm you enough otherwise don't go outside if you are that concerned; the psychological anchor of your nails being more durable and consistent with gel polish on gives individuals a sense of a baseline which they think their nails are "healthy and strong" then when they remove the enhancement usually the immediate reaction if their nails aren't as durable is to blame the product that was just on it, but never the prep or filling or ever associating the condition of the nail before the gel polish was on to determine their own baseline metric
I have done this for several years and certain products fit well for certain people cause people have different needs and work circumstances, hence the enhancement needs to be tailored as such
I have only come across 4 people that have had active allergic reactions to gel polish but it doesn't mean they can't use other products
That's not the case with this particular brand. I'm a manicurist for over 20 yrs and have dealt and treated plenty damaged nails caused by improper filing or improper removal process. If you read the 1* reviews, you'll see that some of these people have a lot of experiences with gel and even acrylic removal process. It's just this brand somehow separate the nail from the nail bed and even give them pain. There are a lot of chemical out there that could give reactions like this. If you haven't experienced it before doesn't mean it does not exist. I'm sure there are other brand will do the exact same thing. I'm just going with the reviews on this one brand.

Thanks for your input. My understanding is that HEMA is usually in these cheaper gel formulations and the HEMA monomer is small enough to penetrate skin and nails and this comes to play especially if uncured gel is contacting skin and nails but can also be from inhalation or other exposures. These exposures are managed better in a salon setting; also most salons I would assume don't use this and similar brands. The reputable brands use acrylate polymers which are larger and don't penetrate skin/nails as easily. They can still result in sensitization but not as likely. Additionally salon lamps are more high-powered and more unlikely to leave gel uncured
These gels have difficult to find SDSs so I decided to play it safe to prevent sensitization to acrylates. Lots of medical procedures and equipment need acrylates and I don't want to screw myself over for life just for nails. I moved to dip, regular polish, wraps.
EDIT: I'm going to add here that I'm a scientist that evaluates workplace exposures. Nails are just a hobby of mine. I also am Chinese and not just spreading anti-China info.
I came to basically say this because I used to have some Beetles gel sets. They don't cure well.
Plus it smells like cancer. Pure toxic. It's made in China and highly doubt it's regulated to the same standards at Free-3+ polishes are
