M2 Max with 36GB is pretty nice deal. Would have been great if it was 16-inch though.

Why's that? How much of a discount is it?
Hard to find the real price of an M2-pro right now.

14" M2 Max 12 Core CPU 30 Core GPU w 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD for $2200
14" M3 Pro 12 Core CPU 18 Core GPU w 36 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD for $2650

Is the first one (this Costco listing) just a way better deal than the second one? If not, what factors should I consider in making a decision on which to buy here? Any help/thoughts appreciated. From what I can see the processor speed/power is about the same based on CPU Benchmark, but then this Costco deal has a 30 Core GPU, vs the other one having a slight bit more RAM and being the newer chip version (maybe slightly valuable for longevity).

I do know Apple handicapped the M3 Pro by using less Performance Cores than the M2 Pro. Most people recommend skipping the M3 Pro and going to the M3 Max.

I think for the price, the M2 Max deal is the way to go.

Well if you are not using GPU on a Mac the only benefit (deal breaker) is that max chips support 4 monitors while pro support only two. I like most Mac users don't use performance at all but need monitors as many as possible for my research work.

This is 100% the answer. If you need Max level then go M3. If you Pro level then go M2. I'm saving for hopefully a lowish $2K M3 max next year. For now keeping the M1 and I still use a iMac Pro due to 256MB ram.

I know this is slightly off topic, but any idea how the base M2-pro (10core CPU, 16core GPU)
compares to the base M3 (non pro)?

The M2-pro still seems to be selling at ~$100 *more* than the M3. Is it worth paying that much?

This is an awesome deal. I snagged an open-box 14" M3 Max (14c 30c) for $2500 and now kinda wish I'd seen this first. Reason being, I can get an extended warranty free with my credit card, so that's additional savings. Something to consider if you have a card with coverage (some Citi cards still have 2 extra years).

If you bought it online, follow this link

https://customerservice.costco.co...com-orders
In-store they don't match the online price. You have to buy and return I think.

Link above has been blocked for some reason just google Costco online price adjustment

Hard to decide. Which one is better, M2 Max or M3 Pro.

MacBook Pro (14-inch) - Apple M3 Pro chip with 11-core CPU and 14-core GPU, 512GB SSD
