If you are really thinking about buying this bike, make sure you have tests ride a fat tire bike. These bikes are much heavier and take a lot more effort to pedal than a regular bike with regular tires.

Because some people like the exercise. Own multiple bikes and an ebike and I never ride my ebike - really never should have bought it.

Because some of us like being able to power something with only our legs, and we enjoy the exercise. It's also a lot lighter and cheaper without a battery. Many of us aren't cycling because we need to get from point A to point B as fast and easily as possible.

They gave you some good feedback already and similar to what I would also recommend. The big honzo is a 27.5+ bike which is a slightly wider wheel and tire (2.8" ) that gives a little more traction and float without the weight of a fat tire bike, also the tire diameter ends up being close to a 29er which has a good roll over ability. I'm a 220lb rider (lots of muscle but heavier than average) and have had to pay attention a little on certain parts especially on my carbon road bike. The most common weight rated part on a quality bike is the wheelset, many will state a weight rating of up to 270lbs, this is why I think the 27.5+ would be better at supporting your weight. if you happen to bend a rim or break some spokes because of weight, any local shop can build you a very strong rear wheel that would support your weight no problem.

Other similar options would be Trek Roscoe or salsa timber jack. I would highly recommend going to a local bike store to ride a few bikes and find one that is a good fit. Not much better than zipping thru the woods on local single track trails, it's a great workout, with adventure and fresh air, and huge stress relief and endorphin booster.

You're not wrong, but it's not really an issue if you're buying quality battery packs. The problem is that good batteries are expensive and there's not a lot of regulation. UL certification isn't super common on ebike batteries, and those that are, are even more expensive. So people see a cheap option and jump on it, but they're rolling the dice. Just like the cheap vape pens and hoverboards, the quality is shoddy and can have a fire if you're unlucky. So, long story short, if you're buying any battery powered product, spend the extra and get quality, trusted products.
