Whenever you see LPDDR(4 or 5) that means "low power" which is 99% of the time soldered ram.
I have one of these. As far as Chromebooks are concerned, it's one of the better ones you can get. High refresh rate QHD screen is great, though the screen can be a little dim at times. Pushing QHD 120hz over Steam remote play can be a big ask of your network hardware, but what's cool is you can also use the Steam for Chromebooks beta and install a bunch of games natively that run over Vulcan instead of DX. Easy way to get a fix for older games like XCom etc.

Battery life isn't awesome for a Chromebook, but given that it's a 120hz QHD screen that isn't a real surprise.
It's only a standard Type-C port, not Thunderbolt. An eGPU won't work with this, sadly.

I used it for a few hours for web browsing and general use. The fans came on but I couldn't really tell that they were on until I turned it off and noticed that they had turned on at all.

I've had this laptop for the past two weeks. It's great for a general-purpose laptop, even if you're of a more "power user" too who wants to use Crostini as a poor-man's developer machine. For under $300, this is a screaming deal for those who just need a simple computer.

Pros:
- Zero sign of being a refurb
- Screen
- Battery life (6-7 hours) considering it's 16" and Intel
- Keys and backlit

Meh:
- Trackpad
- Case is mediocre

Cons:
- Weight
- Speakers

Nice. Mine had a small smudge on its screen lid that wiped off easily. Otherwise it seems very clean. I ran the diagnostic tests for: battery, ram, and cpu within the settings menu and all of them passed. It seems like my battery is new as well. Just an FYI for others, since this comes directly from Acer, they might replace the battery as part of their refurb process, or maybe just do it for batteries that are below a certain threshold. I don't know exactly on this last point.

Also, so far the ports I've tested and keyboard and trackpad seem to work well.

How much time and $ would it take for a noob to get windows on this? And would the drivers get all screwed up most likely?

I have this laptop but I want to sail the high seas and need windows for Plex and BitTorrent binding. It's super solid for streaming to my android tv but I might flash windows on it if I can get it done w/in an hour or two without risking screwing it all up
The Linux route maybe better and cheaper than Windows

thats awesome, did you use the methods from "chrultrabook" Discord?

I am curious how it runs. Are there many quirks to deal with?
yah followed the guide from MrChromebox to convert ChromeOS to UEFI Bios and then installed windows like usual (need external mouse) -- then used Coolstar's site for Windows Drivers
It runs decent - dont expect to do any serious gaming on it since the TDPs are locked in (low powered CPU) + the IRIS GPU is OK nothing compared to the RTXs or Radeons

I can do alot of light gaming (indie titles - smaller games from humble bundle and indigala) and streaming services like Gamepass.

My experience is the same except mine has some marks on the top cover. The touchpad is not very good/responsive. Otherwise, it's a good laptop. I wish it was touch though as I mainly use it for media.
