'Pristine'? Baloney... some may come that way, but not all of them will.

The last ones were "certified" too (2000/1600W, 3300/2800W, and this 4000/3300W dual fuel), but numerous people who got in on those deals reported receiving non-working units (myself among them, with the 3300/2800W unit). There were even more who received working units but looked like they'd been through the ringer. Some units had obviously been sitting out in the sun/weather for long periods.

I'm overall happy with the working 2000/1600 and 4000/3300W units I got, but it was definitely a bit of a gamble & a hassle. Thankfully, Ebay won't hesitate to issue a full refund.

Anyone know the shipping carrier for the Firman site? I have had awful luck with heavy ship items arriving in one piece.

I bought one last time they were on FP. Two were delivered Smilie I haven't unboxed them yet because the electrical panel is in my parents' closet which is still a disaster despite my begging, lol.

Likely UPS. See my first comment here for more detail, but the bigger 2 came via UPS (one was DOA/returned), and the smaller 2000/1600W unit was shipped via Fedex.

I got two refurb'd units last time they had a sale. They were a few years old each, but no big deal. Internally, they looked brand new. Maybe they just re-used the "skin" or something. Both of them fire up with ease and work well and are relatively quiet. Can't beat 'em for ~$3xx for a 4000w inverter genny.

Some units were definitely 'frankensteined' together using salvageable parts from donor units. Good-running unit with a broken handle gets a replacement handle from a 'donor' whose engine seized, that kind of thing.

Be warned refurb means everything from almost new to beat up and used. Mine clearly sat outside exposed to the elements. Screws were rusty, labels were sun faded, oil stains, etc. I didn't bother to take it out of box for a few months when I bough it, it's ugly but it works.
