Thanks OP. Looks like some of the better colors are already sold out, but I was able to snag a few items. My 11yo daughter has been asking for one of these things for weeks now because it's the "cool" thing at her school... :eyeroll:

Good to know. But I got 3 for $18 shipped, so unless they are smashed to hell, I'll probably just keep them even if they have some minor dents. I'm sure my daughter will do more damage after a week anyway. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Damaged Stanley can leak lead that's used as part of their internal insulation .

They've rebuked this already on the news. The lead isn't located in an area where human could consume it. It's within the steel wall like most 'stay-cold' cups.

Hi there. This thread was posted yesterday afternoon, so it's likely that some of the varieties that were available at the time may have sold out. The 2 varieties that I also see are available for the posted price. Smilie

All of these double-walled cups are made the same way. They use a single piece of steel to make both the inner and outer layer. However, you can't make a "sealed" wall this way. So, at the bottom of the cup they seal the inner and outer layer together. They then place a cap over this seal. That is why nearly all of these cups have a little cap on the bottom.

They are using lead because it is cheap and easy and it is literally put in a location where it can NEVER interact with any part of the cup that people are drinking from. And unless the cap falls off the bottom, you will never see this lead.
BTW, this is why they tell you not to put these in the dishwasher. The heat of the dishwasher can cause this cap to come off, exposing the lead. Lead also isnt nearly as dangerous as people make it out to be. We dont want to be pumping it into the air or putting it in our mouths, but we use it for all kinds of applications and it is perfectly safe.

Anyway, its not an issue. If you are really worried just handwash your cup.
