Borealis does not standup on its own. If you load up the main compartment and the rear laptop compartment it could stand up on its own.
However if you over fill the top front admin pouch it will tip over.
Plus the strap stitching at the shoulders is weak.
Mine has started to come apart less than a year after purchase and only used for travel about 7 times.

No. They refuse to do business in CA. I mean you can't even put a CA zip code in the terminal in a physical store in a other states. I don't blame them.

Does this pack stand up on its own? I heard it tips forward due to the frame.

Edit: the borealis I mean

Jester doesn't stand up either. But dang really? I feel like the Borealis is slightly better quality than the Jester and I've had my Jester for 4 years throughout college with no problem, and I'm rough with my stuff. Broken iphones, earbuds, bottles… Etc. Perhaps you got a dud and TNF will warranty it?

I could do warranty but I'd have to pay for shipping and but the effort in to return it.
I really want to like it. The capacity and the compartments are great. But the overall design especially that top admin pouch is a bit irritating.

Dang really? Mine that I bought in 2006? has seen so much abuse and is perfect. I've ripped the cloth tags off the zippers but it is great. Unfortunate they've fallen off that bad.

Absolutely overpriced and overrated backpack. There are so much better more practical alternatives for that money.

would the camo one be good to carry 1-2 pistols in a locked case, ammo, eye and ear protection, drinks to the range?
