    question, are the Yale ones that are keyed older tech/security? I have Yale locks so I rather get a keyed one, but if I'm getting a keyless unit, should I still go with Yale? I have a simple Smartthings Aeotec set-up but I've heard good things about z-wave so considering this over wifi, etc...

    Just wondering why you would want keyed option since that will open up one addition point of entry for pickers.

    This is the old version. I have one of these and one of the new ones. The new one doesn't require a screwdriver to replace the batteries and it has a door sensor to know whether the door is opened or closed. The "in doors" part of the lock is slightly smaller, too.

    I have an older version of this. The problem is it uses AA batteries quite fast. I got tired of buying new batteries so put in some rechargeable. The rechargeable usually has lower voltage than regular 1.5V. The lock complains about low battery very soon even though there is still plenty of charge. So the battery indicator function is not useful anymore. Eventually I bought 4 Li-ion, with constant 1.5V and solved the problem.

    My battery life asts an entire year at the very least, with lithium AA batteries. You need to build a stronger z-wave mesh or get a repeater in between and use lithium single use batteries like energizer. I used a z-wave plug which acts as a repeater in between my hub and my lock.
