For that price you'd think they'd put some real Gibson humbuckers in there.
They do, and they also put "real" Gibson electronics, but you may get olive and birch instead of mahogany and maple, according to a lawsuit between a Chinese influencer and Epiphone/Gibson.

They are real Gibson humbuckers. Reading is fundamental.

Burstbuckers and electronics. I think they stopped doing the HSC tho.

What is HSC - Hard Shell Case? That's included in the price, unless you meant something else.

At this price, it's a steal. The whole costs less than the sum of its parts. Burstbucker set = $300, Hard shell case is a good one probably around $150. The electronics & wiring an additional $70-80. Tuners and stopbar tailpiece, probably another $150. Neck & body probably $300 - $400 at least. That right there gets you close to $1000-$1100.
So you're basically getting all of that for around $750, factoring in 10% tax plus the 8% rewards back.(Sale price of $720 + Tax of $72 = $792. Minus $57 in rewards gets you $735 out the door, all things considered). Add an extra $10 in CA/NY taxes if you happen to live there :-(

Have this guitar. With the exception of the tuners, which feel really cheap, it's a nice guitar. And this is a great price for it.

It's also available in Lemon Burst [musiciansfriend.com] for $30 more

No, still comes with a hard shell case. States it in the description.

Is the lemon burst [musiciansfriend.com] (also on sale) way different than this?

It's an okay deal as the GC/MF limited lemon burst model is on sale for $749.99 like forever, which looks closer to the appetite burst if you are up for a Slash mod. This one is way off from the November burst for mod purposes.

Not the best steal IMHO. In comparison, the Slash model w/ 20% off and no tax in CA is better. That Slash model had an original MSRP of $999 (now $799) while this 1959 being $899 (now $999, thanks to inflation).

It's true that the Slash model doesn't come with real Gibson pickups but if you are up for a mod, you'll swap them right away with a Seymour Duncan set (like the Slash 2.0 set) anyways. Other than the pickups and neck profile, these two models are nearly identical in specs.

I bought the Slash one for $639.20 shipped to CA and consider it a better deal.

BTW the 1959 model has a satin finish. There's a video showing how it looks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_NsVdGMrrQ
