I think this is their latest model (according to their website). It's listed almost everywhere for around the list price. About 25% off for which seems like a good deal for an induction rice cooker.

I love how you openly admit you have zero experience with these rice cookers but you still had to go out of your way to talk about how they are a gimmick.

But thank you for admitting you have no idea what you're talking about.
As someone who went from a basic rice cooker to a neuro fuzzy logic Zojirushi, I can tell you it completely changed the game for how we eat rice. Yes, it's perfect rice every time, but that's only part of the benefit. For me, it makes it so rice is always available at all times, so now it's a breakfast or lunch snack. It stays perfect for at least a good two days. Like it was just made 10 minutes ago. I have the NP-HCC10 which is almost the same rice cooker in a different form factor. This is the new design but is very similar in performance. You can save about $50 or so if you get a non- induction version, but I like the more uniform and energy efficient way that induction works over conduction.
get it cheaper at Kohls if you have 40% mystery coupon.. and it also come with $40-50 Kohl's cash

5.5cup $363.50-$145.40 = $218.10 ---- says only 3 left

What's the value of a good rice cooker like this over the cheap one I've been using forever? I'd like to upgrade but what do I get out of it?

Consistent, better cooked rice. Whether or not it's worth it is up to you. If you do a search on rice cookers, you'll see plenty of debates here.

IMO, it's worth it.

Depends on your usage and taste pallete. I make rice several times per week and can taste the difference between cheap rice and good rice (and even imported Japanese rice).

Have been using current Zojirushi for 19 years but the power cord broke. To me this is an essential kitchen appliance.

Probably similar to a cheap drip coffee maker vs a "good" one that perfects the water temperature, water distribution, flow rate, etc. The higher-end rice cookers have more controls and detection features to perfect the consistent cooking.

Have been on the lookout for one of these... may finally pull the trigger.

It's between this one (which is kinda overkill for me) and the really small one.

I agree. Cuckoo and Cuchen have been making induction models for years now.
