Obviously not a Samsung galaxy but is this a decently comparable phone for the most part?

Motorola only promises a single major software upgrade (to Android 13) and two years of security updates

Framework really needs to build an Android phone so we can upgrade and swap out components as needed (similar to the Fairphone 5, though that thing is very buggy). All I want is a decent phone that gets software updates, has a good camera, and decent enough processor/RAM, without spending like $1000+ the likes of Apple, Samsung, and Google (esp when you upgrade storage). I don't want to pay a $1000 premium every year for a minor processor upgrade that adds "AI features". I am still rocking a S21 ultra (that I upgraded to from a Note 10+ which was another great phone) and will probably continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

get a pixel 7a for $374 problem solved. Much less than $100
pixel 8 gets 7 years of updates for $549 that's not even close to $1000
Samsung Galaxy s23fe gets 4 years of updates for $550
Samsung Galaxy a15 is $200 with 4 years of updates

There you go a bunch of options and none close to $1k

Is paying more now for 3 years' OS updates better than replacing in 3 years?

for similar price check the bay out and you can get something slightly better with the add on warranty or skip the warranty at that price and get something even better. In this day and age the 720 resolution of this thing is going to make most apps and websites hard to navigate look for something with at least 1080 resolution IMHO... just my opinion if you aren't needing the latest and greatest. I always check seller ratings and have generally gotten something much better than promised. Just do your research if you are looking to pinch pennys like I do then you have put in time to save money as with anything in this world!

So I recently ordered a TextNow sim card. I think using this phone for that will be perfect at this price. Thank you to the OP!

Please save us some time...which great device (unlocked, OS13) for <$100 did you find on the Bay without a warranty?

Our family has five of these phones. Whether it's a good phone depends on what you're using it for.

1) If you're a sweaty tech nerd, this phone will be anemic and quickly outdated.
2) If you just want a phone with decent battery life and don't care that it's a little slow, or a phone for your kids who'll probably drop it in the toilet, this is fine.

Not everyone needs the Ferrari of phones. I'm good with a pre-COVID Civic.🚗
